Yes. But also to be clear about this with JF1
I don’t get the Roquan vibes with Fields. Yes; talk to him…. But even if they didn’t, I think he’s smart enough to get what’s going on.

I’d bring them in. Dine them. Send the whole damn staff to their pro days.
Create doubt with the other teams until the moment of the draft.
Also make 100% sure you like Fields better. I think Fields is probably better…. But you better be sure. If you let Mahomes 2.0 pass that’s an excellent way to get fired. So do your due diligence.
Talking to Fields is perfectly logical. Fields is also an adult and will be fine.
That does no good.At the very least Poles needs to do his due diligence and bring the top QB prospects in.... even if it's for nothing more than creating uncertainty among other teams.
Hopefully a disgruntled Lovie wins the final game.
That does no good.
A QB-needy team isn't going to up their offer if they think the Bears themselves are taking a QB.
They need to know other QB-needy teams are willing to spend to get the pick, and out bid them.
You can't outbid the team owning the pick if they want to draft the same guy as you.
The Dolphins accepted that trade so early in the offseason because it was a huge offer that they wouldn't of got on actual draft day. Some seem to think that what the 49ers gave up in that trade is now the going rate to trade up for a QB but it won't happen. The Bears will not get 3 first round picks and a 3rd from any team unless they get incredibly lucky and some team gets very desperate. Hopefully that happens but it won't.I think it will also be interesting to see if they do land the #1 overall pick, how soon in the process would other teams want to trade for the pick? For example, two years ago, the 49er's traded up to the #3 spot fairly early in the offseason so that they could focus their draft prep on a qb.
Would a team be willing to pay a premium at the start of the offseason to then know they had that #1 pick to take what they determine to be the best QB? In that scenario, it would also benefit the Bears as they could focus on maximizing the new draft position.
That does no good.

You don't have to be a smartass. You're implying a team will outbid you for the player YOU want. Name ONE time that has ever happened.I’m not going to go over a bunch of hypotheticals here but if you can’t think of reasons why it’s a good idea to not let other teams know your plans then let’s get together and play poker sometime!
No.If another team believes the Bears might be interested in drafting a QB, wouldn’t it be likely for them to really up the ante to incentivize the Bears to trade down instead? Saying it does no good to create doubt and not show your hand is completely missing the mark. Obviously other teams are going to be interested in a QB, but if teams also think the Bears could potentially be interested in a QB too, it absolutely drives up the potential price. Not that complicated
No.
If the Bears decided Fields is not the guy, or one of the available QBs is so much better that the Bears would prefer him over Fields, and openly show their interest in other QBs, would they then trade out of the spot and keep Fields?
Or put more simply, if there are multiple teams that want a QB and would presumably be willing to trade up for one - as happens every time good QBs are in the draft - why would the Bears need to make teams think they also are QB-needy? You only need teams bidding against each other. You want teams driving up the price for the pick. You don't want them to believe it's not for sale.
So it won't happen unless it happens. Thanks for the insight. And "wouldn't of"?! Sorry @remydat

When a team trades out of the #1 spot it is because they do NOT need a player at the same position as the team they trade with.
You think the Colts were going to trade out of #1 and watch someone else draft Luck? And that would have been smart?
You think bringing in a QB is going to make teams forget you have Fields?
I'll play poker with you any day.
Example 1. Bears have pick 1. Texans LOVE Young and are concerned Bears, Seahawks, and Colts like him too. Texans trade up with Bears to make sure it happens.
Think it can’t happen? Go revisit Trubisky trade.
Example 2. Bears have pick 2. Bears LOVE Anderson. Seahawks LOVE Anderson.
Bears concerned about Seahawks trading up to 1.
Bears lay down heavy smoke screen that they will draft a QB at 2 and trade Fields.
Seattle decides to not trade up because Bears are taking a QB.
Bears on draft day take Anderson who they really always wanted.
Haha. Neither do I…. and we should probably delete this now before people freak outNot that I want the Bears to trade Fields, but what do you realistically think they could get for him ?
