Is Cj the only decent pitcher available in FA? Cause he doesn't great enough to want as bad as guys on here have talked about.

CC could opt out of his deal, and he would instantly become the top pitcher. After CJ Wilson, there is Mark Buehrle and Edwin Jackson as some of the other guys out there. After that it falls off pretty quickly as I recall.

And please don't let the past couple of weeks distort your view of the guy that has been a top of the rotation starter for the past two seasons.

CC also is making 23 million per year now. The odds are CC is going to want (and will probably get) a deal in the range of Lee's 5 year 120 million or whatever ridiculous amount that he is being paid.

Word on the street is that the Rangers are prepared to offer stupid money to CC in the offseason.

They have to beat Houston somehow in 2013. Won't get it done without CC.

He gets more money from that commercial where the guy asks the other guy for an autograph instead of him.

Justin Verlander is obviously not clutch.

Colby Lewis is so much better than Justin Verlander because his postseason ERA is 4 runs better.

CJ Wilson is so not worth the $100MM contract he will get to sign this offseason. So not clutch.

Well as big as I am for getting Wilson $100MM is probably too much for him. Flawless reasoning though...

Numbers don't mean a thing.

Exactly. What do they mean? Nothing. Because they are just numbers. 0973402984320984302843.

Density at its finest.

If there was an argument to made for Ramirez being a hall of famer, I'd be fine, but there's not. He's been a solid player for a decade who disappeared when it mattered the most.

Ramirez fulfilled his contract value.

I'd rather move on from Ramirez, because he just gets his as a supporting cast member. And when he did take the lead in season's past, the season was well in/out of hand.

Sorry that we use exactly the criteria you set up to judge one player to judge other players.

I'm honored you'd do that for me.

It seems you and others are still hurt that I don't like Ramirez. That's fine.

I want to see Ramirez on a World Series contender and see what he does. I don't think he'll succeed there.....

That is fine that you still believe that performance in the postseason is a skill that a player can control despite all the evidence to the contrary.

The numbers he put up are the numbers he put up. I can't change them though I'd love to.

You want to talk about density? How can you continue to miss the point despite all the evidence before you. Players that make it to the big leagues will perform about the same in all situations if given enough time in each situation. That is why players numbers with RISP fluctuate wildly from year to year. That is why we can give you examples of great players like Cliff Lee and Justin Verlander struggling in the postseason and meh at best players like Colby Lewis dominating. It isn't due to some character flaw but rather sample size.

This goes beyond Ramirez, but rather how one should evaluate players. The postseason is the most important time for players to perform, but the idea that players can dramatically raise or lower their production depending on the situation is not supported by any empirical evidence.
