Which result would be more positive for the Cubs chances at getting Prince/Pujols? Lol
If baseball was a game of pure stats, and no intangibles, then this idea "crapshoot" thing wouldn't exist. You are correct. Texas wanted to hit a small spherical object slightly harder and outside the reach of their opponents just a bit more than Detroit, which is why they won, because that want was intangible and helped spin a great narrative.

Let's look at the story of the Boston Red Sox drinking, and eating in the clubhouse in the month of September. I would consider that an "intangible" piece that was a cause of their fall from 1st to 3rd in the AL East.
Wouldn't you agree that it was a factor?Because no ballplayer in the history of MLB has ever ate or drank during a ball game in the month of September  There are many more factors than just their diet that led to their collapse

I would have believed it to be a positive factor if the Red Sox did make the playoffs.
I didn't say it was weighed heavier than injuries. Way to miss the point. So if the Red Sox lose, it's bad. If they win, it's good. Yeah, that sounds like something that is really going to be weighted much heavier than injuries.
How is drinking and eating a positive factor? The Red Sox beat the Rays in game 162, after nearly blowing a huge lead. But what did it for them is that they drank and ate in the team clubhouse. That is what factored in to make them win.
Marcum was not clutch tonight...and now he's out.
I take offense to that...(my last name is Marcum)
I am clutch What you talking about?
I hate the cardinals.
