27 jars. I am guessing about a pound and a half? We should start a pot exchange where growers can go trade with other growers so you can taste others herb. Kind of like the local brewery contests.

WTF is a Magic butter extractor? I make butter all the time with my bare hands like real men do:)

Very close, 1.67 lbs. plus another half pound that I’ve processed and/or gifted.

The extractor allows for quick and simple infusions, into an existing oil ( I used coconut oil) and also butter. Easy, fast, effective.

For a taste I think it would be legal to trade 10g. Any more than that I wouldn't because I'm legal and that would surely remove my right to grow.

I got one just to make FECO, the cooking extractions are a bonus. Too many leaves, stems and trim to process without help. I'm also going to get a still to pull the everclear out of the extract to reuse, it will save $16 a run, so pay for itself quickly.

My dispensary shake extraction wasn't strong enough for chocolates, they had to live in the fridge. Hard candy seems to have worked. I'm going to have to go with more smaller batches though. My hands weren't working right about halfway through pouring.

So you are just skipping the 3 hour soak?

My daughter is baking brownies, chocolate bars, and gummies with the initial batches of infused oil.

I guess I'm the canary in the coal mine to test the potency of each.

This is the way.

No soaking, no everclear. The flower goes right from decarb into the extractor.
Pics??????? So you have melted butter inside the extractor?

Edit:

LOL, my daughter is very strong in the sciences and is a great baker, so she has assumed 100% control over the process. I just come home from work and the last few days another batch has been completed. I will ask her to take pics and share them.

Still takes at least 2 hours to make infused butter in one of those things.

We have one of those Magical Butter machines too. It is a nice set it and forget device, but gets a little loud at times.

While my wife was good with infusing butter/oil on her own...this machine has a setting for tinctures, which is infused grain alcohol...something we do not feel comfortable doing otherwise. Does a really clean oil too.

I think she claimed the infused oil only requires about 60 minutes, and she said the machine was pretty damn loud.

Now let me be clear about this, are you saying you can or cannot use that machine to make infused THC/CBD oil unless adding grain alcohol? I was under the impression from her that the grain alcohol portion can be completely bypassed with the device.

Sorry if my post added confusion.

With the machine you just put in the flower and the oil/butter...press a few buttons and done. No alcohol needed.

I have just used it to directly infuse grain alcohol as well rather than butter/oil.

I think the only extra you extract going longer is undesired flavors. But I can't get my head around that so I did the long one in Mighty Fast.
Once I get a lot of homegrown to play with I'll do some experimenting.

Scared the crap out of me every time I was near it and it kicked on. I thought it would be a constant gentile stir. No it's full blast blender shit every few minutes.

Ardent has some good tests about extraction rates on their website.

Basically what the infusers do is saves you from having to stand over a pan stirring and the risk of burning it. But I got it for FECO, because heating alcohol on a gas stove isn't smart.

Here are extraction rates for different oils (and I think alcohol is here). https://ardentcannabis.com/blog/how-to-infuse-cannabis/
This is not an endorsement of this product, IMO it's overpriced. I decarb in a jar in a pressure cooker. Other than my oven wouldn't hold a tight 240° I didn't have a problem decarbing in it either. So $200 to decarb seems steep.

Here's from my Mighty Fast instruction book:

"Mighty Fast 1 - 45 minutes - Our fastest infusion cycle for infusing butters, oils and VG tincture
Mighty Fast 2 - 90 minutes - A deeper infusion experience
Mighty Long - 4 hours - For a slow deep infusion - perfect for alcohol tinctures"

I know from a group that really gets into homemade edibles you don't need long periods to get THC/CBD and alcohol extraction can be done in a jar in the freezer (freezing to break off the kief). They go short to extract less of the grassy flavors because they want the edibles strong (GTI chocolate 100/100 I got is really bad tasting). Because I want microdose and believe in whole herb I go long to get as much of the plant as possible, my low dose edibles don't taste like weed.

My dispensary which will be medical and recreational said don't expect any flower for the recreational side for a while until they can keep the medical side supplied. They expect their recreational dispensary open in the Spring.

All kinds of concentrates in the varieties they had around last year but are not in flower this year. I had a feeling IL's rollout would be worse than Canada's, this even tops my expectations.
Not sure if it's corporate corruption, incompetence or an honest crop failure that was able to be turned into concentrates to save it.
