Seedsman seeds are the highest quality I have gotten. Yes...they take CC. And have had 100 percent sprouting. Be careful though......you never know what the seeds will arrive in. One time it was a pair of gardening gloves and the next time they were in the bottom of a bottle of aspirin. Almost threw the gloves in the garbage.I have bought some Blue Dream seeds from an outfit in Santa Rosa Ca. but they insist on money orders. Stay away from places like ILGM as you have no idea where the seeds are coming from. I bought from them and was disappointed in quality and result..

I was hit and miss on germinating until I started using the water glass method. So far it has been 99 percent effective. I did have some failures from some seeds we bought in Alaska. But those were 9.00 for 10 seeds. You get my drift.

That's a load of worry about them off my mind. AlphaKronik does paypal. I really wanted to avoid bitcoin and having it crash between buying and ordering the seeds, I've heard it go the other way and people making money on a short term bitcoin buy but I'm lucky to get a free ticket from a lottery ticket.
With MediHaze and Gobbstopper grows I'd be set.

Many in the IL grower group I'm in like ILGM (not that they're necessarily experience growers). I mainly wanted to try them for the alleged classics and it's the US. Their Maui Wowie may not be the same as the 70s but it probably is where the cultivators here got it from (or Seedsman). If I'm going to risk customs with Seedsman I can probably get all the alleged classics there.

What I heard about soaking was from Organic Gardening magazine, seeds need oxygen, "you're drowning them may as well hit them with a sledge hammer", so I never tried. But whatever works for you is my motto for seed starting anything.
I just know paper towels do not work for me at all.

Believe it or not I got the seed in the water from ILGM. That is how they want you to start their seeds. Even though I don't like their seeds this method truly does work almost 100 percent of the time. ILGM say 90 percent.

Germinate Seeds in Water
As I mentioned above, germinating in water is my favorite way to start my seeds. It may seem like a bad idea, as there are more water and light than recommended when using this method, but it works! I’ve found that it is around 90% effective. The “trick” is not leaving the seeds in water too long. Usually, 24 to 48 hours is enough for the seeds to show their tail, but you can leave them soaking for up to 7 days without too much of a worry.

I knew about it from peas. The only reason I never tried it is Organic Gardening. Now I'm just going with what works for me.

Other than my first 3 which I killed by overwatering the Jiffy Mix spraying to check for roots I'm at 100% germination and 100% female. The only thing special I've done is squeeze a seed that wasn't popping when the other one had.
Saw people on rollitup complaining about 100% males from AlphaKronik, especially the variety I have going now. I apologized. I'll have to find that thread and rub it in?
I'd like a way to direct seed into hydroton.

I'm getting ready to spray for bud rot before it gets too late. Hopefully that fixes the problem. The silica helped but didn't completely stop it.
I've only had small buds of MediHaze from the dispensary, hopefully that variety doesn't have the problem.

Thanks again, I took a look at Seedsman and have 2 more questions:

1. Timing: if I'm not going to plant until March, when should i place my seed order (does it matter)?
2. I saw that for some strains there are options for feminised seeds, auto-feminised seeds, fast-feminised seeds, and regular seeds - which type do I want?

Timing is irrelevant. Order your seeds and keep them in the fridge in a dark bottle till ready to plant. Seedsman might still have their Black Friday sales going. Buy some seeds and get free ones.

From what I can tell you want feminized seeds. Never regular seeds. I am currently doing auto's in my tent inside. Start to finish 12 weeks. Not a huge crop. If you want 6 or 8 foot plants do feminized. Pick a strain that you enjoy and get feminized.

I don't know CA outdoor growing but the only reason I can see to plant autos outdoors is if you want an earlier harvest than October/November or your frost date won't let you fit the time to flower in from the date outdoor switches to flower (I'm not sure if that's June 21st or Sept 21st).

It will take about 4-6 weeks to get pre-flowers to know the sex almost 100%, I know some who say they've never had pre-flower and magnification let them down. I have but it was long ago.

Regular seeds should be 50/50 male and female. Beyond that it's dumb luck whether the person picking your seeds grabbed you 100% male or female. Are you feeling lucky? Generally if you get 100% males you could complain and get some free seeds from what I've heard.
Seedsman's feminized seed prices are about what US based regular seeds cost. I've never noticed an option to get the same variety as auto, regular or fem. I got MediHaze and they were only there as feminized. Seeds I got before this were all regular because that was the only option from the breeder.
Some don't like feminized, convinced that forcing hermaphrodites creates hermaphrodite genetics. I don't think it works like that and forcing hermaphrodites doesn't allow you to know the plant's tendency to hermaphrodite. It's what cannabis does, it only doesn't because of man breeding it out, so if you miss the tendency it can easily come back.

My order was a few dollars off, 3 free seeds, add in discrete and it all came out to be about the original price. Not sure if that was black friday still going or not. I had to jump because it was the last one.

My 420 Homeys, need your counsel.

I am thinking of planting and growing in 2021, to that end -

1. Can you recommend a source for ordering seeds?
2. any pro tips on germinating?
3. what is the optimal month/time to plant (Bay Area)?

I agree with everything posted following these questions, but I would also really look at getting clones. You can take out a bunch of the guesswork by purchasing a living plant. I think that you can buy those in Cali legally, and if that is the case that would be the route I went.

Especially if the dispensary sells the clones from the grower. Try it before you buy it.
Original CO laws where dispensaries grew their own would've been great for someone like me who's very picky about variety.

Thanks, I checked Eaze online and no clones for sale, oh well.

I don't know much of your law but I quickly found clones in SF searching. $15, considering seeds are $10-$25 that's not bad.
One thing I do know about CA is you have a lot of people going Canada's route and The People are doing what they want and opening up not legal businesses.
Here in IL the closest I've heard to that since legalization is CBD stores as the front in Chicago. Makes me want to check out the local CBD stores.

Around the 80s we had a hydroponic tomato store that would give you a bunch of clones and a giant bag of weed when you bought a system.

There is a huge warehouse in Oakland that has everything. Clones included. I have never tried them myself. Friend of mine takes one plant.........and turns them into 4 or 5. He cuts branches off as soon as he tops the first time and roots them.

Here is their counterpart in San Jose if that is closer.

Nightmares for @truthbedamned.

I caught that first flower before it threw pollen but missed one this morning.

But down worry, all your women are safe now.
Well mostly anyway.

So here is a small but bushy indica dom autoflower I have been growing. It is about time to start the flush cycle. I figure maybe 6 ounces which is what I would normally expect from a hydro autoflower. Have no idea the strain but the trichs seem quite heavy.

You can see indica influence in the fatness of the tops.

The male is dead. I think I have seeds on the stem I brushed and plenty of pollen caught in the baggies. I may try to save some in the freezer to try a cross at some point.

You are absolutely correct. This is indica dominant. I sometimes have brain farts with the two. Plus sativa's are tall and lanky. And the buds are spaced so far apart you don't get the huge colas. I edited my post.

Some buds. Looking very good considering they still have a sativa long way to go. I hope the potassium bicarbonate puts an end to the bud rot or all of these ones will get it.
