Tigers are gonna make a run for it, but right now if they keep losing it's going to make it harder for them to do. Just like the White Sox have done to themselves the past few years.

Started off shitty, so no matter what they do they can't quite get to first place, but they get close.

Tigers are gonna make it tough. Indians, too. Not gonna be easy, but right now the Sox are winning and that's all that matters.

also win while the indians are ouchy and the pitching for the tigers is poopy. timing is everything.

Exactly. Sox winning right now when Indians are having trouble and Tigers aren't doing well. Helps the Sox build a nice cushion so they don't have the pressure to win every game or lose first place towards the end of the year.

The timing of this streak is perfect.

But a 2.55 ERA is high for Verlander. Haha. Not really, but he's so good. He just isn't winning games like he was last year. That's one of the main differences that I personally see.

Pitching wins are the most useless stat in baseball.

The Tigers' pitchers are playing games to where they need to record at least 30 outs because of their awful defense. In a game a couple weeks ago they had 4 errors in 3 innings. Unless the hitters get hot and the defense improves to league average this team is going nowhere.

The upper minors are void of talent. They sent Raburn and his .146 average down after Tuesday's game. Know what they brought up? A THIRD catcher! There isn't a 2nd baseman at any level of the organization. Their top SS is up with the club platooning at 2B and hitting .175.

If the White Sox don't win this division easily somebody should lose their job.

Raburn sent down? Don't worry, they'll recall him back up when he faces the Sox again.

Fucking pud destroys us.

I'm not saying that wins are a good stat for pitchers. Because it's probably the worst stat there is.

But the thing Verlander did last year was dominate almost every game he pitched. Now the Tigers aren't backing him and then the rest of their rotation isn't that great. Fister has been good and I thought he would be ever since they got him.

Tigers are still a dangerous team because they're eventually gonna figure it out. When they figure it out is going to determine how tough it will be for the Sox to win the division.

Fister only making six starts so far this year definitely has hurt the Tigers.

For sure. They're pitching is a lot worse than it was last year. And the offense isn't helping them out at all.

This Tigers team reminds me of the 2011 White Sox. A lot.

True, but that offense could get hot.

Look at the White Sox. Each player is mediocre (other than maybe Dunn and Rios and definitely Konerko). Yet, they get hot and the offense scores a lot of runs and wins games. When Viciedo is playing like he is (who expected him to be this good) Yes, we expected him to be good, but I think he has still passed expectations. Ramirez is playing a lot better during this winning streak than he has all year. Beckham is doing better.

When an average offense gets hot and starts hitting the ball, it's easy to win games. Detroit doesn't have a complete staff like the Sox do, but they have a couple really good pitchers.

They're gonna win some games and they're gonna make a run at the division. If the Sox keep winning and the Indians and Tigers keep losing, then the Tigers making a run is going to be harder. I still think that there's something to be afraid of. It's not going to be an easy division.

Not saying that. But he isn't shit because he hasn't ever had a winning season.

Floyd, Danks, Humber, Sale, and Peavy. None of them were winning pitchers last year.

So, stop using wins & losses to dictate pitchers...great logic.

I know teams are just scared shitless to face Doug Fister.
