Being an Illinois fan, I have the strange mixed feeling of a) looking forward to seeing what's different now that Lovie is gone and b) expecting an offense that relies on a ground game, while the team is physically inferior to opponents. That leads to boring losses.
But I do think there will be positives - it's just so hard to expect much when they recruit lesser players than their conference opponents literally every year. I am impressed with how Bielema as handled publicity and PR, and how he did a good job reconnecting with Illinois high school coaches. I expect that will pay off somewhat over time. But they're picked last for a reason, and all I can hope is that they surprise us.
In other conferences, I wouldn't mind seeing Texas get the snot knocked out of them on a weekly basis by Big XII opponents. Oklahoma can apparently suck and still be in the CFP hunt as we saw last year.
And while I used to root for Dabo, he changes that every time he opens his mouth. I would not be upset to see somebody knock that team off. But since they play nobody, I don't expect it.
