You mean the Cubs in 4? Its a 7 game series. lol

I know it is lol, I don't like predicting sweeps. I always feel like teams are good enough to get at least one game. I'd love to pull out the brooms though!

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
This organization has the potential to make the Blackhawks run look like an appetizer

Lets not get carried away here. Try winning one before you claim anything approaching a legitimate dynasty like the Hawks.

"The Cubs verified that it is indeed Schwarber's home run ball on top of the scoreboard and told the Tribune that the team will leave the ball on top of the scoreboard in a Plexiglass case for at least the remainder of the postseason. They'll determine the ball's eternal fate after the Cubbies' run has concluded."

LOL, that is awesome.

Chris Bosio today said it sounds like the plan is to go Lester in game 1 so the rotation would be

Gm 1 - Lester
Gm 2 - Arrieta
Gm 3 - Hendricks
Gm 4 - Hammel
Gm 5 - Lester
Gm 6 - Arrieta
Gm 7 - Hendricks

I'm not sure I like the looks of that. I would have assumed they would go Lester on 3 days rest for game 4 and then Lester on 3 days rest again for game 7 if necessary. Going with Lester to start indicates to me that they don't think Arrieta could hold up to 3 starts. You really can't risk Hammel in a series like this at all can you? I guess you could if you were up 2-1 at that point. Aslo since Arrieta won't be available don't you have to have Lester available for game 7?

Lester can't throw to first though, why is he pitching at all?

A. Russell out for NLCS, hoping Baez is feeling it.

Hendricks in a Game 7. Hopefully it doesn't go that far.

Lester was going game 1 no matter what if we won. He hasn't pitched and you don't skip his spot for Arrieta who has thrown the most innings in his career. Arrieta would also get an extra day rest which he needs. Hammel start would be a bullpen kind of start and Joe seems to have big time confidence in that. You paid Lester the big bucks. You show confidence in his past performances.

You could argue that Lester looked better vs STL

I have no issue with Lester going in game one. I just assumed they would go with short rest and a three man rotation.

We're at the time of the season where proper rest is a luxury. The games will dictate who pitches and when.....Toronto has already used Price out of the pen, so I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see Lester or Arrieta doing the same at some point in this series.

So gut feeling on the opponent? For some reason that I can't explain logically I think it's the Mets. Greinke is a better pitcher that deGrom this year, the Dodgers on paper are the better offensive team but something seems...off. I was surprised they won game 4 though so what do I know? The bottom line is either one of these teams is going to be vet, very tough to beat. I suppose I'd rather face the Dodgers but both scare me. Oddly though, if theÿ take advantage of the opportunities I do think the Cubs could beat either team.

O wise the Mets are better. Not much to argue on that. Rotation Mets are deeper. They have 3 starters that they can depend on with Martz as a #4. Dodgers have a drop off after Grenke. Pen would also fall in favor of the Mets.

Mets are the better team. Dodgers have the best 1/2 combo in baseball. That makes them scary in a 7 game with them getting in 4 of the 7 games.

Tough call on which to face. I think Arreta can neutralize 1 of the 2 which puts the favor to the Cubs.

Mets are deeper than the Cubs in SP.

Now with DeGromm and Greinke both pitching tonight that messes up their schedules. On normal rest they would start next Wed or in other words they become their team's #4 starters and match up vs Hammel. That puts them into a 1 time up vs the Cubs. Mets it would be Harvey and Thor vs Lester and Arrieta. Favor Cubs. Dodgers would be Anderson and Kershaw vs Arrieta and Lester getting the 2 games each.

To be honest that is the biggest factor going into it. Advantage Cubs unless they start forcing Grenke to go on short rest on Tue and stick with a 3 man rotation.

Think Maddon is doing the right thing sticking with a 4 man with the series ahead. No need to ruin their arms this series with the ability to have a pen game.

Good piece with some, albeit limited, statistical analysis and comparison to past appearances on the Cubs chances in the NLCS. I would have preferred the headline not mention the ridiculous "curse" but what can you do?

http://fivethirtyeight.com/datalab/this-is-the-cubs-best-chance-yet-to-break-their-curse/

Get used to it, brother. That narrative is going to follow the Cubs all postseason and into the next if they don't win it all.

Rather lazy journalism grabbing the low hanging fruit, but what can you do?

I would definitely rather face the Dodgers. I don't think they can beat us in a seven game series. I do have some reservations about playing the Mets. Some of their offensive weapons scare me and their talented rotation is deep.

Having said, bring on either of them. We're like 13-1 in our last 14 games and pretty much a buzzsaw right now. No team has our collection of elite talent all across the field.

Bryant - Elite
Rizzo - Elite
Schwarber - Elite
Soler - Elite
Russell - Elite
Baez - Elite
Fowler - Elite

Who wants some of this??? Come get some -- it won't be pretty.
