Ricketts is a moron....here's an example on why I think so:
That's not exactly a reasoning. It's too early to be able to really tell if he is a competent owner or not.
Ricketts is a moron....here's an example on why I think so:
Same shit new week.
He's been the owner for what.. year and a half..
Like its his decisions to bring in all of those horrendous contracts that were approved by the trib.
It's his fault that Wrigley was left untouched for an extra 50 years longer than it should have..
---
If we were in first place these articles wouldn't be here. It's all perception based on result and until he can either push Hendry to do it a different way or the entire roster of new players come.. Judgement shouldn't come yet.
---
I'm closing this cause its either one thing or another.. The Sox boys all come in here and trash the guy cause they don't like the Cubs and I know that's why they continually do it.
---
Case closed until real judgements can be made.
wow! sensitive much?
holy shit. These are all news worth articles being posted, sorry that some of your members in the cubs forum only post the positive things on the cubs.
So lets close negative threads and leave open the positive ones, sounds like a plan.
feel free to post negative articles in the sox forum, they wont get closed, they will be discussed....oh wait we already post negative articles.
If it was something that was actually discussed instead of beaten to death every week I'd have no problem with it.
We know everyones stances here on this subject. Until something definitively changes nothing else needs to be said.
I've already stated I'm tired of the political stuff with terms of what he's gonna do or "scheming" to just make profit and no winning. We know your stance. You've voiced it before time and time again.
someone else posted the article FYI. what else have I said in this thread about ricketts? oh wait i only commented on the closing of the thread. carry on.
I know someone else did.
Plenty of other ricketts threads youve talked on.. and I'm not the only one that has seen them.
great! Than make one thread about ownership, people can have their opinions about ricketts....but I guess if he was opposite of what he is now and there was positive news in the media there would be dozens of threads about it. I bet im right.
*merged
Stay on topic with ownership here, if there are more threads lingering leave them be.
There's at least 6+ more with the same stuff.. so that's fine.
Elaborating.. with what I would like also from a ownership discussion..
If you've got a viewpoint back it up with logical problems or facts. Don't just go with total hypotheticals on why he be a good/bad owner and not back it up. All I ask.
as I have. want more facts?
We're allowed to speculate somewhat. There are a few factors:
1. Wrigley Field needs a crapload of renovations and maintenance over the next few years or else it'll crumble under its own age.
2. The debt-load placed upon the Ricketts family by the Tribune during the sale.
3. The reduced revenue from economic and Cubs-sucking factors.
4. The part where they picked a third-round pick in the first-round to save slot money.
So it's not illogical to suggest that the Cubs may have some financial restrictions in the future. At the same time, we don't know everything. The best indicator will be what players they sign in the offseason, as well as how many draft picks they are able to sign from this year.
CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs have lost their way. And worse yet, team chairman Tom Ricketts is having trouble reading the directions on his baseball Garmin.
His franchise is headed south. It has been pointed that way for a while, but the hope was that the new Ricketts ownership regime would change that. So far, nothing. Absolutely nothing.
Forget about reversing the curse. How about reversing the growing concerns about Ricketts' ability to make a difference, about his having the stones to make a hard decision?
Somehow, Ricketts has forgotten the essential truth about running a sports franchise, especially a franchise such as the Cubs with its special history and special, perpetually heartbroken following. And that truth is this: Winning makes all things possible.
I'm not saying Ricketts isn't interested in winning. Or that he doesn't care. I'm saying that he hasn't done anything of substance to convince people that he's trying to win.
I believe this has already been posted in the official Cubs owner thread, but I don't think Ricketts needs to say what he is doing with the team. He does have to have a plan for getting this organization turned around. Unforunately, it is probably best if he doesn't really tell everyone what that plan is exactly.
