Chicago Bears lead series 102-74-5
DAVID MONTGOMERY vs. JAMIE COLLINS
After a promising start to the season, Montgomery has led one of the most tepid rushing attacks Chicago has seen in a long time. That all seemed to change with one run to the tune of a career best 57 yards. Game script got away from Montgomery too fast, but he did contribute another 46 yards on the ground in 10 tries. Montgomery had just under five yards per carry during the opener in Detroit, so look for the Bears to go back to Montgomery early & often. The only thing stopping him may be Lions standout LB Jamie Collins. Collins is one of two linebackers, along with Tampa Bay’s Lavonte David, with at least 15 forced fumbles and five interceptions since 2015. With 46 total tackles and 3 FFs in the month of November, Collins is definitely the man to beat against the Detroit defense. Can Chicago salvage their rushing attack or will Collins start his December just as strong?
ALLEN ROBINSON vs. AMANI ORUWARIYE
With first round pick Jeff Okudah & FA signing Desmond Trufant struggling with injuries and, before that, in coverage, the Lions will be needing the second year defensive back to do the heavy lifting on the outside. This week that means drawing Bears star receiver Allen Robinson. With Trubisky back under center this past Sunday, Robinson hauled in two touchdown passes. While Oruwariye has been far more solid in coverage this season than the Lions top pick, Jeff Okudah...Robinson will be his biggest challenge of the season. Can the young cornerback build on his resume or will Robinson be the key to ending the Bears five game skid?
MATT NAGY vs. DARRELL BEVELL
Third year Bears HC Matt Nagy is undefeated against the Detroit Lions, but that was the Matt Patrica led Detroit Lions. Hired not long after Matt Nagy, Matt Patrica was fired by the Lions after an embarrassing nationally televised blow out loss. With Nagy now also coming off his own nationally televised blow out loss, but still employed...the fact that the Lions have changed personnel could be a very interesting wrinkle for Nagy to game plan for. It’s more than possible that Matt Patricia stifled his coordinators or held them to a specific plan, and as a result, the Lions could look a lot different in this game than any other Matt Nagy has coached against. Is Bevell the spark the Lions need to salvage their season or are the Lions just what the doctor ordered for Matt Nagy's free falling Bears?
In their defeat against the Packers on Sunday night, the Chicago Bears failed to score a touchdown in the first quarter for the ninth game this season. They also failed to score any points at all in the third quarter, also, for the ninth game this season.
