yeah, he is going to the cubs no doubt in my mind. every arrow points to this happening. this is what theo wants and has been preaching.
I think it'd be sort of like Samardzija's deal where he's eligible for arbitration next year, but every single year of the deal he must be on the 40-man and burns an option.
BleacherNation:
To be followed by final-final bids tomorrow. RT @Buster_ESPN: Final call for Jorge Soler bids has gone out, w/ the deadline set for tonight.
Im hopefull for Soler also but when i hear NYY involved heavily that scares the hell out of me. Not to many teams out spend the NYY
It wouldn't be a shocker, but it would be slightly crushing. I know Rice disagrees, but I feel like we really need this as a springboard for rebuilding the system.
I think if you figure him as a high-impact prospect he could be used as currency in a trade but trying to tab him as an impact player in MLB is a bit premature. There are many ways to rebuild the system that don't involve Jorge Soler and could potentially be way cheaper so I don't think it'd be devastating if the Yankees paid $50MM for his services (I pulled that number out of my ass) while the Cubs stayed away.
Mystery teams are always a worry to me...
