Even if they are bluffing do the Bears take their chances or do they want Jeanty so bad that they just think they can't take the chance that they are or aren't and make the trade. We will never know if they were or weren't besides idiot draft people coming out with tweets after the 1st round with their own opinions but will make it look like they actually know when they actually don't and CCS will believe whatever side they want to believe.
Well, I’m of the mindset that no one here is really worth overpaying for. The Bears aren’t a team with the luxury to overpay. So, that said, I would call the bluff. If they take Jeanty, there will be other high level players they can select with the picks they didn’t give away. You can miss out on a player if you still select other good players.

So you think the Bears can be literally the first team in a very long time who can draft a top 10 running back and have it work out for them?
  • The last top 10 back drafted was Bijan Robinson. Looks alright for now but Atlanta isn't some juggernaut because of him.
  • Before that, in 2018 it was Saquon #2. How'd the Giants fare with him?
  • Jacksonville took Fournette #4 overall in 2017. How'd that work out? Carolina took McCaffrey #8 overall and it never turned into any team success, not until he was traded to a good team.
  • 2016 the Cowboys took Ezekiel Elliot #4 overall. He had some good years but it didn't translate to many wins when it counted.
  • The Rams took Todd Gurley 10th overall in 2015. How'd he do?
  • in 2012 the Browns took Trent Richardson 3rd overall. Ditto.
If history is any indicator, we'd be trying to buck a really bad trend by taking Jeanty at #10 let alone trading up for him. You could look at the superbowl winners and their leading rushers and other than this past season, you won't find any dynamic, incredible rushers. The Chiefs won the prior two years with Pacheco as their leading rusher (under 1,000 yards both seasons). The Rams before that with Sony Michel under 1,000 yards. The Bucs before that with Ronald Jones under 1,000 yards. The Chiefs before that with Damien Williams at under 500 yards. The Patriots in 2018 with Sony Michel under 1,000 yards. The Eagles in 2017 with LeGarrette Blount under 800 yards. Other than last year, you need to go back to the 2016 Patriots to find the last superbowl winner with a leading rusher over 1,000 yards (LeGarrette Blount as well).

There's a reason why the RB position has become so devalued.

You say it's the reason the position is devalued yet your proof is that all these RBs were taken high on the hopes they were the next greats.

What you should do is throw in Enis and Benson to show why the position is so devalued to Bears fans. That's who is willing to ignore the next great to get some low rounder who won't stick.

I mean we have the #10 not the #2. If someone actually believes in BPA the #10 isn't where you're targeting players it's where you hope that talent falls to you. If that happens to be a RB so be it.

Wasn't Gurley very good?

Note that I'm not saying Jeanty and certainly not saying move up to take anyone. I'm just saying listing a bunch of RBs who went early is not proof of the position being devalued by anyone but you.

Yeah i'm with you on not wanting to trade up for Jeanty but it also comes down to exactly what we would have to give up. Some are out there saying it could be cheaper to move up in the draft this year with teams really looking at rounds 2 and 3 to get starting level players. I don't want to give up either 2nd rounder for sure.
