Also CCS*: “ We cannot draft someone who plays <insert position here> because we already have a starter at that position and if we draft someone, the starter would play fewer snaps.“

Spoiler alert: The goal in the off-season, especially for a team that finished 5-12, is to make moves that result in some starters playing fewer snaps.

That is how you get better.

IMO, the way the draft appears to be shaping up, I just don't see any trench guys worth taking at 10 but they may take a couple on day 2 though.
Aside from possibly CB, I expect some sort of offensive chess piece for Ben at 10. It's going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

The bears have a lot of good young players at many positions.

You dont replace developing players you just drafted a few years ago. Only morons dont understand it takes time to develop draft picks.

Dexter is certainly one of those players. He has a very high upside, most DT's take 3-4 years to breakout.

From the highlights, it is apparent if he’s even he’s leaving.

Also, it was nice to see him making plays outside and from the slot.

It's weird that this draft has players all over the place that seem like they will get people fired by either being a bust, problematic, disciplinary.

Much better to have had last years top 3 than this year.

Philly has a rotation, Jalen Carter played 79% of the snaps and 3 other DTs below 50%.
Dexter played 57% of the snaps and they also added Grady Jarrett who played 67% of snaps for Atlanta...
Do you think Dexter will want even less snaps or that the Bears are paying Jarret to play less than 50% of the snaps?

So how do they fit in a #10 pick that will also be in need of at least 50% of the snaps, plus Andrew Billings?

You can get all 3 out there with Jarrett at end. You've just described a top 3 defensive line that controlled the SB like that's the wrong way to do it. Look, I'm not advocating here but there's absolutely no problem with them taking DL early. I don't think they take OL in 1 for similar reasons. They're full up there but those guys don't rotate. It will only have to do with how they feel about their LT situation but I think they're still high on last year's 3rd rounder. They should draft OL at some point to develop.

They could easily take a guy like Nolen if they feel ok about his character or a guy like Coleston because he's got a lot of special to his game and represents some contrast to Kmet. Teams don't care where these guys are projected in mock drafts. I suspect they'd be looking for a small trade down in that situation but that's not always available. I'd prefer they wait on RB until at least round 2 but won't hate on things until I have a better feel for the overall plan.

DT would make sense, since jarret and dexter can play DE on at times.

De would probably make more sense, but a guy like mason graham would be a home run at #10. Him and dexter next to each other would make a great duo for the next few years

No, I feel that many are looking to copy Philly but as you can see it's not an equal share of playing time between their DTs...

So the Bears will be hard pressed to get Dexter the amount of snaps at 3T that he needs to continue to develop, if they bring in another 3T that cuts into his playtime.

Jarrett is also a 3T that is being highly paid, he's not here to only play 30-40% of the snaps.

I think using #10 on any rookie that isnt a day 1 starter that's getting the majority of the snaps is poor use of draft capital.

You need to remember we have a new DC too. From what I have read both DT’s are expected to get some pass rush.
