Bob McGinn received some damning information on Josh Simmons.

“McGinn wrote of Simmons: "Removed from consideration by one team for makeup issues. Another team expressed serious reservations. 'Kind of a f-----," said a fourth scout. "His (issues) are more football character. He has a complete bull(bleep) sense of urgency, like a total finesse player. Mental is an issue. Lacks power, struggles to anchor. Fundamentals are poor. Plays like a guy that was at a JUCO and just came here."

These pieces seem like scouts trying to get players to drop sometimes. Not sure I trust them

At 6:37 of this video, Matt Miller discusses Campbell, Membou, and Banks Jr. He says Banks Jr. is the BEST offensive lineman in this draft and being horribly overthought. No, I’m not Matt Miller but I agree 100 percent and have stated it here many times. Banks Jr. should be the pick at 10.

Banks Jr. is Miller’s number 8 overall prospect.

Bucky Brooks is another expert that recently spoke out against all the second guessing of Banks Jr.

Banks Jr. makes too much sense. Braxton is rehabbing and in a contract year. Kiran has never had a training camp and played at Yale. They need coverage at LT!!!

Thuney being the LG should help the rookie tremendously too.

“Galaxy brane overthinking”. 😂

Another poster already made this point, but I feel like media is ignoring the elephant in the room here. Drafting Simmons isnt just gambling that he can make the difficult jump from college to NFL, you are also gambling that at the same time he can have an outlier good recovery from one of the few career ending injuries medical science right now doesnt have an easy answer for.

I dont give a shit about off the field antics if his injury has an overwhelmingly likely result of ~3 years of play left at a lower level of performance than pre-injury. Thats not an acceptable result for the 10th pick and im not a huge fan of fishing for a "well he'll be one of the top 1% recoveries from this injury because ...." pick.

Dont think i've seen a single person want him at #10. WEll maybe a couple

My guess is he goes to some team in the 20's who is willing to take the risk

McShay thinks he's the best left tackle in this draft by far, and its not even close.

I think all that is nonsense bullshit. None of those scouts actually said anything about him other than they don't like him. If the one scout called him a ****** and not a fuckər then he should be fired.

I do think his injury is going to drop him significantly though.

I asked @msadows this too. Who did Simmons actually play? The majority of his career was at San Diego State and he was injured against the only quality team he played in the Big Ten.

Their first three games last year were blowouts against complete cupcakes.

What was his signature game against a NFL level edge prospect?

If Johnson thinks that Warren is the ultimate chess piece for his offense and among the best talents on the board then I wouldn't argue with it. I do think Kmet would basically be relegated to nothing which is a terrible use of assets but oh well, as long as Warren turns out to be a stud.

It doesn't look like Henderson will last til #39 now, especially when you consider that teams will know we're eyeing a RB and will have to trade up above us to get him.

IMO, this all boils down to what Ben wants and I'm good with whatever they do. We really don't know how their draft board is stacked.

If Ben thinks that a Warren/Loveland is a critical chess piece for the offense and a major upgrade over Cole, then I'm excited to see how that plays out. Cole is only 3.2 mil dead cap next year, 1.6mil if post 6/1 release.

If he thinks Jeanty/Hampton immediately improves the offense and are significantly better than the day 2 RB's, fine.

If he wants an OT or a DL, cool with me.

The last few drafts have been easy to predict, this one I'm not as sure of.

Incidentally, if you look at the probability of position taken at 10 they are...

RB 23%, OL 21%, DL 21%, TE 17%.

I don’t see how any of us can answer this without knowing his medical reports

He’s coming off a serious injury and they just had a head case with Nate Davis.

Plus, I’m waiting for someone to tell about one quality matchup he faced in college.

Matt miller has been very high on banks since day 1. He's much much higher on him than most of these other analystss

His first mock he had him going #3.

If the bears do go OL at 10, banks is the one guy I’d be ok with. Think he’s the best LT prospect in the draft, and also should have some guard versatility. I’d prob be ok with Conerly Jr too, but not sure he has the versatility that Banks does.

I'm not propping him up, I'm just saying those scouts reports are absolute garbage. They don't talk about his play or any real off-field/personality issues

One scout talked specifically about his playing ability.

My real issue is the injury. I’m just not interested.

Guys…… what if we traded all our picks this year for picks next year when the draft is (per sources) LOADED? Then we tank this year and have a Super Draft next year? Caleb can take the year off and work on his footwork with big BJ. Bagent can start and when we lose him to free agency we get a comp pick!!

I’ll hang up and listen….
What if we vise versa that and go all in this year with a draft that doesn't have many blue chippers but is loaded with starting players? Trade all of the 2026 picks for 2025 picks. All in for 2025 season?

I know the trenches guys will hate this but if this is true and they go BPA...

It's tough to find a lot of consensus on players in this year's draft. However, almost every team I talk to believes in the top 2 TE's. Warren & Loveland (some prefer on over the other) are consistently viewed as top 10 players in the class.

He's likely the most talented OL in the draft and can be better than braxton.

Taking a tackle at #10 for him to basically be average(braxton) is the worst case scenario. If all it takes is 72 then its worth the risk for me.
But you didn't say all you would give is #72, you said to pair #72 with #39 and #41 which is absolutely crazy even if it wasn't for a guy coming off a major injury.
