“Starters draft” sounds like some made up bullshit because they don’t want to just directly say the draft isn’t very good.

What draft are most 2nd rounders not considered starters?

Thats what they keep saying. Not a lot of blue chip talent, but deep with starters. “You can get a solid starter in the 2nd round.” Isn’t that every draft though?

That's the whole point of what I'm saying. The person I quoted said it's "thin in starters" and I disagree. I think there should be 3 starts, minimum from this draft. That's reasonable in any draft. I'm not calling it a special draft. I'm more so saying it's not as bad as people are saying it is.

The Raiders are kind of a mystery. At first, I thought they were dead set on Jeanty, but the more openly they talk about it, the more I question whether or not they're just trying to get a team to jump in front of them so they can take Graham or one of the offensive lineman.

I could also see them targeting a CB. Carroll took Witherspoon in the top 10 a couple years ago. We know he's big on the secondary, and the Raiders are in dire need of help there, too.

It's been 3 years. It would just take Kiran to hit and there's the 30%. Obviously, the first two suck, but you're over-thinking a small sample size. You're not even considering position. Like how many of those 30% are RBs, safeties, and LBs? Those are "easy" to hit on in the 3rd. Poles took a WR, LT, and DT, which are relatively more difficult to hit in the 3rd. If he took a RB, LB, and safety, probably 2 of 3 of them are "starters".

I wonder what Thibodeaux costs. I honestly haven't paid attention to him much other than him having a good rookie or 2nd year, so not sure if he's going to command a premium return in draft value.

I would take Kayvon for 72 in a heartbeat.

Neal still interests me as a buy low candidate. Idk where he should play but I think a good OL coach could figure something out. He was a freak coming out in the draft. I loved him as a prospect, so maybe I'm just biased in still thinking he has hope.

Yea, I saw that a week or so ago. I don't think they'd tell him they were drafting him, so I don't put much into it. Shadeur had the Giants stuff too, but it takes two to tango. I will say I do fully expect Mason to be the pick at 5 still. He's a great fit. I figured the odds to hit a longshot with McMillian was worth it though. It's a longshot, but odds are good enough to go for it. I actually would hate to pick McMillian at 5 if I were a fan of the team.

He only played 12 games last year. He had 11.5 sacks in ‘23.

I should have said in almost any scenario. I’m also more basing that opinion off your “You’d rather have less picks this draft“ statement. I get what you’re saying, but there are a lot variables and just on the surface seems like kind of a crazy thing to say. All drafts are different and the talent is spread differently so it just seems like a blanket statement when there’s more nuance to it.

Kind of going off on a tangent here, but people get too focused on rounds. Like there’s this magical drop that happens between 33 and 32. That’s the extreme example, but people do it to a lesser extent all the time. Rounds are meaningless. It’s the pick number that matters. People have this psychological thing with rounds.

There is not that big of a difference in how we look at pick 22 and pick 30. Of course there is some. It’s 8 spots. But now imagine there are only 22 teams. And know I can say one is a first round pick and one is a middle second round pick. That psychologically changes your expectation and projection for those players the way them both being late firsts doesn’t. People do that all the time.

I pointed this out before, but... yea... Jeanty absolutely should not go 5 overall. In fact, I think he'd have the 2nd highest guaranteed money behind Saquon. It's just absolutely terrible resource management. If a team does this, the guy better be Barry Sanders and he better be the Barry Sanders that wins playoff games.

Could you name 5 other running backs in the NFL right now that you'd rather have over Jeanty though? Barkley is the only slam dunk probably. Henry is getting way up there on age and miles. CMC has always had injury issues. Gibbs is dynamic but you question his ability to shoulder the load. Others in the conversation would be who? ...Bijan Robinson, James Cook, Bucky Irving, Jonathan Taylor, Josh Jacobs? The list isn't very long.

That said, that's not me advocating for trading up for him. Please for the love of god don't do that Poles. There's too much RB value available later.

Let's say Jeanty does NOT go 5 or 6 and the Bears are remaining patient. Once he makes it past LVR, do we trade up to secure him or do we feel like 7-9 wouldn't take him there? NYJ (Hall/Allen), CAR (Chuba), NOS (Kamara/Miller). LVR will certainly take a RB (Mostert can't be their man) but will they take him at #5?
