Would you rather burn 10 on Tyler Warren or 72 on Pitts and extend him?

They have shown interest in Taylor so we know TE is something they might explore.
Definitely Warren at 10 over Pitts at #72. The draft allows you to save on the front end of the investment, trading a draft pick and then extending doesn't save you anywhere. Pitts is an amazing athlete but he hasn't been any better than Kmet has been since he entered the league. Zero chance the Bears need to give up premium draft capital just for the benefit of having two arguably overpaid TEs.

Another thing that people seem to leave out when negating the value of a TE at #10 is that Warren is more of an offensive weapon because of his versatility. Yes he is a TE meaning he can block and receive but Warren also can run the ball, pass and even punt. The only reason I consider him an option is because of all the ways Ben Johnson can use him. That's what separates him and Pitts doesn't offer that.

He had 1,000 yards with Matt Ryan and has since played with absolute garbage including the ghost of Kirk Cousins.

I do not want either but I’d definitely take Pitts for 72 and some money over burning 10 on a one year wonder that struggled to separate in college.

That is the beauty of pre-draft debate.

Agreed, this is what makes it all a reasonable debate.
Pitts is just another athletic TE, Warren is Taysom Hill mixed with Sam Laporta. Ben Johnson would have a field day with him.

If they draft him, I’ll certainly support him even though it’s not the way I would go.

Same like pace when hired yap about building through the draft. Team still blows 3 years later and get desperate so start spending in fa.
To be fair, you build through the draft and tweak via FA. Balance of acquisition happens to have been askew but if this is actually fixed in one offseason, maybe it wasn't as bad as we thought and the coaching sucked. Obviously, Poles also supposedly hired those coaches.

Which top 10 offense has worse skill players than what the Bears have? I'm confused at the idea that the Bears are somehow set. Keep in mind teams like KC, Chargers, Dolphins, Texans, Cowboys aren't even top 10 and all have arguably better weapons than the Bears.

Are you all really forgetting the Bears were #32 in offense last season?
Without putting much thought, I’d easily say the Bills and Commanders last year. Commanders #3 is actually now our #4.

But that’s really besides the point… I’d flip it to say what top 10 offense do you think would invest a top 10 pick on another WR or TE assuming they have 3 good ones already? Who is the best player that’s a 4th target on those offenses? If we add a new weapon, it’ll just be at the expense of an existing one. And honestly, I don’t really care, but if you add any top weapon, probably means Kmet’s career is more or less over here. It makes sense to add a first round talent if you know DJ, Rome, or Kmet have no future here. Otherwise, somebody becomes a 400-500 yards a year kind of player, at best, and I don’t see the value in that. You can get that from a free agent or Day 2/3 pick.

The problem is that the Bears were the worst offense in the NFL not even close to top 10, so it doesn't really matter what a top 10 offense would draft.

Here are the Commanders 2025 playmakers (so far)... Jalen Daniels, Brian Robinson Jr (Austin Ekeler), Terry McClaurin (Deebo Samuel), Zack Ertz, Noah "Philly" Brown

The Bills... Josh Allen, James Cook, Khalil Shakir (Curtis Samuel), Keon Coleman, Dalton Kincaid, (Dawson Knox)

I don't see it, where exactly do the Bears have the advantage?

O.Z. would not be the #4 on the Bears he would be #3 considering he had more yards last season and averaged more per reception than Kmet (Who I'm assuming you are calling #3) on pretty much the same amount of targets.
I guess this all comes down to everyone's confidence in two things, #1 that Odunze will be at least close to as good as DJ (who is not elite) and #2 Kmet will also be at least a top 10 Tight end.

If the Bears go DL in the 1st round, Grant would be the most likely to be a day one starter.

Here the 33rd Team mocks him to the Bears:

“10. CHICAGO BEARSChicago Bears

Selection: Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan

This feels high for Kenneth Grant, but the board did not fall well here for the Bears. Tyler Warren was also considered, but Grant is the pick as the Bears try to rebuild their defensive line into a powerhouse.

Grant has unusual athleticism for a nose tackle and would give them another option to pair with Grady Jarrett and Gervon Dexter. With every team in the NFC North running the ball well, adding an athletic nose tackle to an already good defense doesn’t seem like the worst idea.”

lol. Is this serious?
Chargers have Ladd. That’s it. Everyone else is average to well below average. (Yes this includes the plodding Harris)

Cowboys have Lamb and a decent TE in Ferguson. Texans have Collins, who can’t stay healthy, and Mixon.

The Bears offense was 32nd because of Caleb being awful, the line and its injuries and the coaching. It wasn’t because of the skill position talent.

Top offenses all have 5-7 playmakers, here are the Bears top playmakers....

Caleb Williams, DeAndre Swift, Dj Moore, Rome Odunze, Olamide Zaccheaus, Cole Kmet

What top offense has worse playmakers??

DJ Moore was a perenial 1k yard receiver.

Cole kmet prior to last year was a top 10 TE the prior 2 years

Rome Odunze was a top 10 drafted WR

There are very few teams that have that talent. Not my fault you are stupid and hate the bears weapons judging them off a season where everyone played like shit due to a rookie QB and a terrible offensive scheme.

The amazing OL and a good DL is why Bears fans want to see more done in the trenches especially when you see what Philly did to KC having even better trenches. The Bears especially need a great OL because CW is so raw. Poles failed via building the team from the outside in and is now correcting that, er should I say BJ is now correcting the approach.

I feel the team needs another RB but I don't want to see that in the first. Outside of that, I really want to see the focus on the trenches. I also don't want to see Poles giving up more draft capital for expensive players causing future cap hell.

Nah clearly what we need is more weapons for caleb to overthrow /s
