Mahomes is on an entirely different planet than Caleb so that alone makes it almost an unfair comparison. The shell of Kelce is still at least equal to Kmet. At WR the Bears have DJ Moore meanwhile KC lost so many to injury that it's again hard to compare but Rashee Rice was very good in 2023, Xavier Worthy had 6 TDs and almost as many yards as Odunze.

RB output is comparable with a healthy Pacheko. The difference ultimately was KC had an amazing Oline AND Mahomes. The Bears dont.
We have better weapons than the Cowboys and Chargers do too.

Ranking the draft’s fastest RBs…

Find value here and don’t burn 10 on Jeanty!

This draft I would rather have the power back over a speed back. That being said if the Bears go DL with Grant who is the only trench player who could be a day one starter and were able to take Judkins in the second that to me would be a perfect draft. Two day one starters.

The role of pro days in the NFL draft process…

Good stuff. Do we have any updates on big name players who didn't work out at the combine but have had pro days already? I haven't seen much besides Mykel Williams and the Georgia pro day.

DJ Moore was a perenial 1k yard receiver.

Cole kmet prior to last year was a top 10 TE the prior 2 years

Rome Odunze was a top 10 drafted WR

There are very few teams that have that talent. Not my fault you are stupid and hate the bears weapons judging them off a season where everyone played like shit due to a rookie QB and a terrible offensive scheme.

Top offenses all have 5-7 playmakers. lol. Not even the greatest show on turf had 5 to 7 playmakers. They had Holt, Bruce, Faulk and to a lesser extent, Hakim.
The hyperbole on this board is hilarious.

Why I could see them taking jeanty, even if im not a fan.

Look at the best offense in the NFL last year, the ravens. What receiving weapon is that special? Zay Flowers is just "okay" - maybe he can be one day soon. Mark Andrews put up a lot of TD's but looks like he's aging as a receiver. Other than that its just derrick henry and lamar jackson.

What great weapons did the cummanders have?

Packers had a top 10 offense with a bunch of #2 WR's and a TE who is basically just as good as cold cement.

Bills had a top 10 offense with a bunch of guys who were mid or bad

Bengals, Chase is clearly a monster but tee higgins is basically DJ Moore level. Not DJ's fault he has constantly played with trash at QB.

Bucs had a top 10 offense with an old ass mike evans and a TE worse than cole kmet after godwin died.

Seems like a correlation between all the top offenses in the NFL is a strong run game and a QB who can actually throw the ball.
Well just going off that first line i'd say the answer is because they don't care if you're a fan of the move. LOL

Can we all agree on Eberflus was a pathetic HC who hired the wrong OCs and QB Coaches to develop young QBs? Also no help in the running game nor pass protection . Let's see if Johnson develop Williams before getting the pitchforks out. It's only one season, Bryce Young made progress while Stroud and Lawerence regressed. Elway sucked in his first 2 season until he became a HOF QB. Some QBs do improve after their rookie year. We will see if Williams improves with better coaching and Oline.

Anyone that doesn’t believe Williams showed plenty of promise under difficult circumstances as a rookie, is either trolling or not too knowledgeable about the game.

Screw Pitts this is a DEEP TE draft. I'd rather take Loveland, Fannin, Arroyo, Taylor, Helm, or Ferguson later.

Really intrigued by Arroyo. Or get Helms later but he needs some development.

The problem is that the Bears were the worst offense in the NFL not even close to top 10, so it doesn't really matter what a top 10 offense would draft.

Here are the Commanders 2025 playmakers (so far)... Jalen Daniels, Brian Robinson Jr (Austin Ekeler), Terry McClaurin (Deebo Samuel), Zack Ertz, Noah "Philly" Brown

The Bills... Josh Allen, James Cook, Khalil Shakir (Curtis Samuel), Keon Coleman, Dalton Kincaid, (Dawson Knox)

I don't see it, where exactly do the Bears have the advantage?

O.Z. would not be the #4 on the Bears he would be #3 considering he had more yards last season and averaged more per reception than Kmet (Who I'm assuming you are calling #3) on pretty much the same amount of targets.
I guess this all comes down to everyone's confidence in two things, #1 that Odunze will be at least close to as good as DJ (who is not elite) and #2 Kmet will also be at least a top 10 Tight end.
Well, I’m not talking about the RB though. I think the entire forum agrees we need a RB. I am talking about adding another WR or TE. Historically, no 4th WR/TE provides much value. Their only value is if they eventually replace one of the top 3. If you draft one in the top 10, then you're absolutely sending the message that someone is probably about to be gone cause they'd otherwise see their role diminished. I imagine the player would at least request a trade at some point. So, if we take a WR/TE, my expectation is that one of the top 3 would be on their way out in the near future. We saw last year that trying to feed 4 targets was not going to be a recipe for success. No team really gives substantial looks/stats for the 4th guy in the WR/TE group.

Back to the Commanders, as an example, there’s no one alive that would’ve ranked that Commanders group (WRs and TEs) above the Bears group last year. If Poles called up Peters and said “I’ll give you DJ, Rome, Keenan, and Kmet for McLaurin, Brown, Zaccheaus, and Ertz”, Peters would’ve thought he was part of a prank. Our fan base would’ve rioted and theirs would’ve celebrated like they won the SB. It’s lopsided. There is no denying they had a very average to even below average group. That’s why they grabbed Deebo. They needed an upgrade. Their performance was a testament to coaching, Jayden, and the OL.

And along with that, the Bears offense was trash for essentially every reason besides our WRs and TEs. Could they have done more? Maybe… but the coaching sucked… OL sucked… and QB sucked. They take more of the blame. It is what it is. I don’t mind if someone likes a player like Warren. I believe he’s better than Kmet too, but drafting a guy like Warren or another WR tells me someone’s days are numbered. Given Rome is on a cheap deal, it’s not him. So, it means they’d be unhappy with DJ or Kmet.

As for OZ, I mean he’s extremely likely to be our 4 in terms of scheme. Ben is definitely not planning for his WR3 to do more damage than his TE. If OZ passes Kmet, it’s kind of a very damning thing for Kmet. The way Detroit has functioned is the TE will be a top 3 target. I expect that here. If Kmet isn't that, he should be replaced.

Taylor is my favorite but there's not really a scenario where I want them taking TE with any of the first 4 picks. Realistically it should be edge/dt/rb/ol in no particular order.

Agreed, with a possible allowance for a safety if they feel strongly about one in the rounds after 1. But my ideal preference is what you stated

Would it be better to just trade our first for an actual playmaker? At least we will get a playmaker that has done it in the NFL already than picking from this weak draft at the 10th pick.

No, we don't have the cap space for someone that valuable. How about we use #41 or 39 to move up a few spots and draft Graham if he slips a bit? I know it's easier said than done.

Bears are drafting 10 in a 6 or 7 premier player draft. We have to hope that a couple QBs go early and other teams draft for need or elevate a lesser player instead of BPA. I'd like to see them get a premier DL in one but I suspect it may come down to a choice between Jeanty (premier but RB), a TE or a DT like Nolan. Month to go before the draft so boards are still in flux.

I put the bulk of that on the OL which was probably the worst in the league. Add to it a rookie QB and terrible coaching/play calling. If you don't count the QB, the Bears had more offensive weapons, save for Kelce, than KC. Could you imagine Mahomes with DJM, Allen, and Odunze? KC functioned with a hodge podge of WRs. Mahomes and Reid would probably have made a star out of Kmet.
LOL, no we can't leave QB out of the equation of playmakers on the team. Yes we must acknowledge terrible OLine play and coaching, and also acknowlede that the Bears have upgraded the OL and coaching this offseason.

As it currently stands the Bears have a very good but not elite DJ Moore and a lot of hope that Odunze will be at least equal to him. Swift/Kmet are both good players but neither would be hard to replace or upgrade from.

Unless Caleb becomes a bonafide star, the Bears are nowhere near a top 10 level offense so adding an offensive skill player is absolutely an option.

lol. Is this serious?
Chargers have Ladd. That’s it. Everyone else is average to well below average. (Yes this includes the plodding Harris)

Cowboys have Lamb and a decent TE in Ferguson. Texans have Collins, who can’t stay healthy, and Mixon.

The Bears offense was 32nd because of Caleb being awful, the line and its injuries and the coaching. It wasn’t because of the skill position talent.
First I never said the Cowboys or Chargers were a top 10 offense, secondly the key word I used was ARGUABLY.
Justin Herbert is a major part of the playmaker equation. Ladd Mcconkey just had a season that puts him on equal footing to DJ Moore. Quentin Johnston in year two suddenly had 8 TD's and 700 yards which puts him right in line with what Odunze had.

JK Dobbins/Gus Edwards = Swift/Roschon, I'd expect them to add a TE in the draft and suddenly the only real difference is Herbert -vs- Caleb for which team has the better playmakers. I can do the same thing for the Texans and Cowboys which both currently have much better QB's, equal or better WR and RB's... again that's the point in it being arguably.

Regardless, the question is whether the Bears are somehow set on playmakers when those playmakers are compared to the top 10 in the NFL, not the teams the Bears "might" have the advantage.

You're such a cuck. Who told you that you were smart just because you think Braxton Jones and Kmet are great players that the Bears can't improve upon? Both are solid players at best. If you have anything of substance to add other than childish insults, feel free to add them.

KC, Washington, Baltimore, Buffalo, etc
KC was not a top 10 offense, but depending on if their other WR ends up in Jail, I think the playmakers for the Bears would be close until you add Mahomes to the equation.

I don't think you have looked at the rosters for Buffalo, Baltimore, and Washington lately...

Bufalo: Josh Allen, James Cook, Khalil Shakir (Curtis Samuel), Keon Coleman, Dalton Kincaid, (Dawson Knox)

Washington: Jalen Daniels, Brian Robinson Jr (Austin Ekeler), Terry McClaurin (Deebo Samuel), Zack Ertz, Noah "Philly" Brown

Baltimore: Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely

Baltimore was the best offense in the NFL last season, and you are saying the Bears have better playmakers....???
Washington has upgraded at receiver and was already better than what the Bears had even before the Bears lost Keenan.
Buffalo doesn't have the name recognition but both TE's are big parts of the offense, Keon Coleman had a good rookie year averaging 19.2 ypc, Curtis Samuel is still a very good #3 WR, and at the end of the day they have Josh Allen who raised the level of them all.
