I'm cautiously becoming most optimistic about Trapilo. Really hope he shines at LT.

And if not, definitely gone the year after the year after….Couldn’t be more accurate… great offensive coach, upgraded line… and maybe no team in the league would be an easier path to playing time. I don’t hate Swift or anything, but I imagine he’s likely gone next year and, if not, definitely gone the year after.
I agree but as far as path to playing time I wouldn’t mention Swifts name. It’s Johnson whose name should be brought up. Well, his contract had only one more year after this year. If he sucks, he's probably not getting a contract. If he's so good, they probably can't afford him as they'd have decisions looming on a lot of their more important positions that will be up for contracts. And if not, definitely gone the year after the year after….
Yea, I didn't mean to imply that he's only getting Swift's time. Generally, he can earn time this year given the overall competition in the RB room.I agree but as far as path to playing time I wouldn’t mention Swifts name. We will extend him 5 years just to be on IR. Trust me bro…Well, his contract had only one more year after this year. If he sucks, he's probably not getting a contract. I mean, if Burden wants fully guaranteed then hold out for it. Letting another player on another team make your decisions for you is sillyThe player holding up second round signings has been identified. It’s Tyler Shough.
From the article:
According to Joel Corry, a former NFL and NBA agent who writes a column for CBS Sports, it's the player chosen one spot after Bears wide receiver Luther Burden III in Round 2 who is the instigator, so to speak. It's Saints quarterback Tyler Shough, the 40th pick.
Corry cites a source saying Shough wants a fully guaranteed contract through all four years, based on the expectation he'll be the starting Saints quarterback. It's not necessarily a case at the moment where other second-rounders are demanding fully guaranteed ocntracts, but they have to wait to see if Shough gets his. Then they would want it.

Chicago QB Caleb Williams poised to break Bears’ franchise records in 2025, says top NFL analyst

“The second-round signings have come to a grinding halt because of 40th overall pick Tyler Shough, who was the eighth player selected in the round,” CBS Sports’ Joel Corry reported. “According to sources, Shough is insisting on a fully guaranteed contract since he is expecting to be the New Orleans Saints’ starting quarterback for the 2025 regular-season opener with Derek Carr recently retiring.”

Former Louisville QB Tyler Shough makes major contract power play with Saints | Sporting News
Former Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough hasn’t taken a snap for the Saints yet, but he’s already making waves. The rookie is reportedly holding out for a fully guaranteed deal—putting pressure on New Orleans and potentially shaking up second-round contracts across the league.www.sportingnews.com

If you think you’re good enough to deserve fully guaranteed, then ask for it. Otherwise, sign your deal and move along
Reality is, things are different for QB’s, particularly ones that are likely to be the starter. Not sure why all these non QB’s think waiting to see what a QB does will matter much for their contract negotiations
Sounds like the NFL player bargaining will be fun whenever it comes up next. NFL might have to start guaranteeing contracts like the rest of the sports world lolThe hold up I think is that the first two players in the second round signed and got fully guaranteed deals?
If so I would hold out too, but at that point its like when does the guaranteed money stop? Every 2nd rounder wants it now, so if they get it the 3rd rounders are gonna cry too.
Burden like the other two second round players the Bears drafted are deferring to their agents as they should be. This isn’t a Luther Burden issue.I mean, if Burden wants fully guaranteed then hold out for it. Letting another player on another team make your decisions for you is silly

sure, those guys also must think they are worth a guaranteed contract as well. never said it was strictly a luther burden issueBurden like the other two second round players the Bears drafted are deferring to their agents as they should be. This isn’t a Luther Burden issue.
Trapilo and Turner haven’t signed either.

Bears' offensive player named X-factor candidate (and it's not D.J. Moore)
The Chicago Bears may be relying on one offensive player more than they did last season, thanks to roster improvements.email.fansided.com
Yeah i've already been mocking him in my drafts as my RB2 and if you go RB heavy you can get him as your 3rd RB with some luck. Only in PPR leagues though.Swift is by far my favorite bear for fantasy(outside of caleb).
Feel like he's going to have a huge year behind this OL - If the bears are smart they'd sell high if he does have a huge year and trade him to a dumb team while drafting his replacement at pick #32
Ben also used him a lot in the passing game during his time in detroit, so those points will add up.
Anyway it shakes out, they at least have significantly increased their OT depth for 2025.
Not soon enoughCollege football is almost back! 65days!
I don't get why teams concede this stuff. It feels so easy to dig in your heels and say "no one has ever given a fully guaranteed contract to a 2nd round pick" and just let it play out. Instead, they do this and create a domino effect of shit for everyone. The hold up I think is that the first two players in the second round signed and got fully guaranteed deals?

They didn't increase their depth, they replaced Larry Borom.
