I really hope not. Brisker was a true difference maker early last season. He had an incredible game against the Rams. Unfortunately, his history so far suggests you’re probably right.

He had the lowest passer rating against on the team which is pretty damn impressive for a strong safety who's best skill is in the box tackling

I hope he's healthy, cause I feel like he's in for a big year. Replacing two safeties next year sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, too many flashbacks of major wright and chris conte

I just think he’s one big hit away from being retired.

The thing here is Ersery also has to be good enough that he would've been worth taking at 41 and not getting Shemar and not moving back into the 4th round. Getting more quality shots will probably win out in the long run. In this case, the Bears turned a 2nd, 3rd, and 7th into two 2nds and a 4th.
It's this. Ersery needs to add more than Trapilo plus Shermer to be the better move. Another way of looking at it is whether Ersery would have been a better choice than Burden as they were only 9 picks apart in round 2.

I tend to LOL at these definitive statement of draft goodness after the top of round 1. Opinions are fine but this sort of vehement assuredness is just dumb. Even GMs know that they're hedged bets.

Again, I know that NFL.com is not the end all - be all of draft profiles. But it is at least a consistent reference point.

Trapilo (6.31), Turner (6.32), and Burden (6.43) were all rated at least 1 tier higher than Ersery (6.25) on NFL.com. Burden was actually 2 tiers higher.

That doesn't mean Ersery is bad or another draft service rated him differently or that he may end up being better than Trapilo or Turner. I mean, he was drafted higher, so at least one team clearly thought he was better.

But, I think it's harder to say that he would be so much better than the other 2 prospects that you can clearly state right now that he is worth combination of both.

Something I didn’t realize, Hyppo had some pedigree coming out of high school. From the Trib today:

“Hyppolite grew up in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and played at McArthur High School in nearby Hollywood.

He became a top recruit as an outside linebacker and chose to attend Maryland over offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Florida State, among others.”

With training camps for most teams starting up in a week, it will be interesting to see how the current deadlock gets resolved for all the 2nd round picks.

I saw that the Chargers rookies report today and they still don't have their 2nd round pick signed. I think the vast majority of rookies report on the 19th for most teams. So, a week from today. You have to think signings will start soon with a real deadline approaching.

The Bears dodged a bullet there. He was on their radar along with Henderson.
The cool part is how that must be going over in the contract negotiations going forward… what a time to be moron, in the middle of a holdout. Great judgment. But then again, maybe it won’t matter. Though, it would be funny if that’s what it takes to get the first 2nd rounder to accept a not-fully-guaranteed contract.

The domestic violence piece may eliminate him from participating for a good portion of his rookie season even if he can come to terms.

Plus, the Browns have to be spinning considering the whole Watson fiasco.

Speaking on the Locked On Cowboys podcast, former Cowboys coach Glenn Smith said coaches “have expressed that Jaydon Blue is ‘borderline lazy’ and that the team is not thrilled with his work habits.”

It’s quite the indictment for the fifth-round rookie, who figured to be in a camp battle with Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders for the Cowboys’ RB1 role this summer. In an article published by Marcus Mosher, Mosher points out that there have been no reports of Blue working with the first team offense during OTAs or minicamp, which could be explained by this recent quote from Smith. Blue slipped to the fifth round of this year’s draft after rushing for 134-730-8 last season with the Longhorns. He’s a versatile back with a three-down skillset that would make him an intriguing fantasy option should he earn a significant role, but this story will be one to monitor once training camp officially opens for the Cowboys next week.

Never thought of Blue as a three down back even at Texas he seemed to be at his best as a specialist behind Robinson/Brooks. I thought he was a lock to make the Cowboys roster, but with this I wonder if it might come down to a fight between Blue and 7th round pick Phil Mafah for the last RB spot.
