Would you quit bitching and complaining about it? We get that you don't want to see him go.

Seriously why bother have Ramirez? It's a waste of money and a waste of a roster spot instead of playing Lamehiu (spell check) or someone else. Ramirez puts people in seats, that is the only reason we would want him right now. I'm a huge fan of him but it's time to let him go and get the pick. He's pretty much worth less to us as of right now. If you want him so bad buy a team and give him the money he wants.

Another backup MI cubs have produced. He not a 3B

Yet again you miss the mother fucking point! Ramirez is flat out worthless for us jesus christ! Why are we going to pay him a ton of fucking money when we aren't contending? WE ARE REBUILDING LAST TIME I CHECKED WHEN YOU ARE REBUILDING YOU DON'T RESIGN A 34 YEAR OLD 3RD BASEMAN! See I can use caps to. We are rebuilding which means we should give the spot to a kid not to Ramirez. How many times do I have to try to explain this? Lets go with what you said for a second. "What can 3 years hurt?" Well it will completely waste over 40 million dollars, it will block a couple of kids that could prove themselves. And it could also end up having him get hurt permanently then we don't get a single thing back for him. At least now we get a supplamental pick when he leaves. The upside of letting Ramirez go right now outweights the upside of keeping him. If this was going to be another 2008 season then yes you resign him but it's not.

Cubs brass as NEVER come out and said they REBUILDING!!!! They said every year they will try to win. How can they sell to fans that they are trying to win when you letting go of a top 3B? IF they would just come out and say WE ARE REBUILDING then i have no problem. BUT Theo and Hoyer have both said that minor leagues and MLB is 2 different projects and that with resourses Ricketts has allowed there isnt any reason they cant compete. Im sorry but taking away the Cubs pure best hitter and replacing him with guys who cant hit there weight doesnt prove that.

I actually don't think we are rebuilding. It's a complicated situation.

I think we are but were still trying to put a half decent product on the field. Basically I think were letting the contracts run out. Ramirez isn't coming back, Z won't after his deal is up, Dempster possibly can come back but he won't get much, Soriano is flat out gone when his deal is done. I think were giving kids a shot where we can while we give a half decent product to the fans. Just my guess.

It sounds like Ramirez wants to leave, not the other way around.

Theo mentioned about paying players for future production, in which, resigning Ramirez would go against that belief.

I know many people would like the Cubs to pursue James Shields of the Rays. If they have enough of what it'll take to land him and if it's reasonable. He's expected to be available this Winter. He earned his self a 500K bonus for finishing in the top 3 of the CY voting. He will make 8 million in '12.

I would say about the same... Trey McNutt and Vitters would have to be included. Carpetner, Korean OF and another player too.

The contract the Marlins offered to Albert Pujols "is believed to be for nine years," says Yahoo's Tim Brown. The Marlins pulled out all the stops in an attempt to woo Pujols, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick, who hears that part of the team's pitch to Pujols involved bringing in about ten players to assist in recruiting and "make the organization's interest clear."

Cardinals GM John Mozeliak expects to meet with Dan Lozano, Pujols' agent, this week, according to Crasnick. It will be the first time this offseason that the two have talked in person.
Past reports have indicated St. Louis made Pujols an offer of nine years and $210MM before the season, but Crasnick hears that the Cardinals never topped $200MM.
While Pujols was "surprised" that the Cardinals named Mike Matheny their new manager, the hiring isn't expected to play a major role one way or the other in Pujols' decision.
