My bigger point is I don’t want to be sitting on Fields in year 4 going “maybe this is the year” like we did for Mitch. I’m on the “show me this year” or draft another QB train.
So you dont even wait until year 4? He gets two years and hes done? Jeez, not i even threw Mitch in the dumpster that fast.

If were believing what Mahomes is saying here then he was actually a better quarterback before he learned how to read defenses.

If Fields stinks it up, and the Bears have a top pick this year, and Poles has a QB he loves on the board should he:

A: draft a QB?
B: wait a couple more years and see?

As I said before. I’m sure by his standards he didn’t think he was good at it or knew how to do it.

Sure. I am also sure his first read was open quite a bit and he was scrambling and extending plays rather than going thru progressions religiously.

People have PTSD after Cutler and Mitch not panning out after years and years. Fields has a short leash for most people I am learning regardless of his current situation (1st year was under a complete buffoon at HC, 2nd Year has one of the worst supporting casts I've ever seen + a new system).

I'm sure a Fields hater will be like 'ohhhh making excuses already' yadda yadda. The statements above are just reality. I'm not putting an ultimatum on Fields in Year 2. Let's just watch him play and see what it looks like.

My favorite teams
  1. New York Mets
  1. New York Knicks
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. New York Rangers
  1. Syracuse Orange
So the CB1 everyone knew was going to be the CB1 is still the CB1.
The rookie CB who had zero reports of missing significant time isn't missing significant time.

Multiple projected starting OL hurt, the WRs are every bit as shaky as everyone thought and the QB isn't progressing.

Not sure how this leads to being better than you thought but hey, nothing wrong with being optimistic. Im sure this isn't at all a setup into blaming the one person we all know you're going to blame anyways.

No teams have a better handle on how to defend that offense and do a better job taking away his first read.

Well whatever he was doing he had IT immediately and we didn’t have to wait four years to see IT.

Why is option B a couple years and not a year? I think two years in a new offense isn't a stretch. A ton of respected voices who cover the NFL are saying he has no shot because of what is around him, a consensus worst in the NFL supporting cast. Was last year a fair shot for him considering what we know about Nagy?

Just seems too premature unless they are top overall pick because he was truly that bad and someone came away from this college football season looking like the next "generational" talent.

He sat for a year. And even so who cares. Means jack shit for Fields. Some guys put it all together quickly and some need time. And some never figure it out. Time will tell which Fields is.
