He's played four years in the NFL. How would a few training camp practices prove his worth to where he'd get the deal he is looking for?

The difference is everyone is lining up around the block to pay wide receivers in what is obviously a crazy market at the position right now. Meanwhile the positional value attributed to linebackers is probably at its all-time historical nadir relative to the other positions.

New system, new coaches, new attitude. So far Roquan has been the opposite of what he needs to be for them.
They aren't going to pay him based just on some walk through practices, it's idiotic to think that's what this is about.

His willingness to be a part of the team would be huge. And yes, if he proves in camp he’s worth what he’s asking in this defense, he would get paid. I ? believe that. What he’s doing now may be part of the process, but it’s losing him value in the eyes of the staff.

This likely gets resolved and Roquan signs a deal, I just hope it's something like a Lance Briggs deal (but I doubt it).

It's a stark contrast from previous regimes where when the team THOUGHT they had their QB situation fixed, they went all in on resources (Julius Pepper, Khalil Mack, big FAs, etc) and this time around with Fields, the team is burning it to the ground to rebuild.

They probably want to invest those resources eventually into the positions that the league is showing value for nowadays instead of throwing it around on defense.

And unfortunately we have to wait a year to see exactly what they have before they likely will be willing to spend on anything.

Your belief doesn't have any bearing on the actual situation.
