I like the idea.

I saw Drummond in person front row last year at the Bradley Center against the Bucks (free tickets from work so I went). He had 11 rebounds in 17 minutes....but the Bucks could not cleanly grab one defensive rebound when he was in the game. He literally got his hand on almost every ball off of the rim- it was crazy how athletic he was. Scoring in the lane or rebounding against Detroit WOULD be tough with JSmoove at the 3.

I like Drummand a lot. I also think Monroe is a decent player. SMith is not a SF with the way he shoots the ball. A team with no shooting is going to get everyone packed into the paint. That makes it very hard to drive without a charge call. It makes getting the ball into the post very hard. There is a reason teams do not play with 4 centers and a PG. You cannot have only size and no shooting.

Floor spacing is the most underrated ability in the NBA. Teams have to space the floor. It does not matter how good defensively or on the boards you are. If you do not space the floor you are not going to get to far in the playoffs.

They might make the playoffs in the East with that group. The Bucks made it last season. I just don't know what getting crushed in the playoffs gets you.

The only team I could actually see benefit from Howard is Golden State. I think the Rockets don't have enough around him that compliments him correctly.

Curry-Thompson-Barnes-Lee-Howard would really be something else. Lin-Budinger-Harden-Howard-Asik is formidable, but I wonder about

If I were the Bulls I would unload our assets to acquire Thompson. trade exception, Bobcats protected, mirotic......Deng? Rose-Thompson-Butler would be nasty with Snell off the bench in a year or two.

Mortgage the future and win now. Golden State has cap problems and can't pay him even before Howard.

Snell hasn't even had a second on the floor in an NBA game and he's already our 6th man?

I'm done, Utah Jazz will also be in play for Tiago Splitter :pity: Scoot must be right, I guess they must want an entire starting lineup and bench of guys 6'10 and taller.

Interesting. I don't see why the Spurs would let Splitter go.

Screw floor spacing...run a lineup with all centers.

Because he was horrible in the Finals. HORRIBLE.
Miami's small ball lineup was too much for him to handle and he's no David West or Roy Hibbert down low so they couldn't force the Heat to play big. That's not necessarily his fault.

Interesting. I don't see why the Spurs would let Splitter go.

According to a report he's going to cash out and get a deal that will likely pay him 8.5-10 million a year. I could see why they would let him go. He's a decent role player but he's not worth that much cash. It's sad that the game has so few good big men that a guy like him can command that much :pity:

He should have dominated inside if he was worth a spit....Diaw played much much better than he did.

Splitter was clumsy when he should have been powerful. I have no idea what any team would have significant interest in him after seeing him play on the biggest stage.

http://tracking.si.com/2013/07/01/rockets-dwight-howard-meeting/

Howard asked Morey if he would be able to offer another player a max-contract deal in addition to the contracts of Harden and Howard if he were to sign.

Make of it what you will- but I see all kinds of problems with Howard asking- "Can you get a 3rd max player?" Why doesn't he just ask if Houston can get 5 max players? Thank goodness D12 didn't want to be a Bull, otherwise he would be and we'd be out Jo. Could you see Jo going from place to place asking how many max players a team can get? Dwight bothers me more and more by the day.

http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterockets/2013/07/rockets-like-what-they-hear-from-dwight-howard/

The Rockets were so all in for Howard they traded Thomas Robinson before the meeting so that there would be no uncertainty about their ability to sign him to a max contract, removing that question. They also made plans to pursue free agents that would fit best with Howard, rather than if they cannot get him. A person with knowledge of their plans said they plan to meet with free agent forwards Mike Dunleavy and Corey Brewer while in Los Angeles.

Well clearly the Rockets not landing Dunleavy axes any chance of them landing Dwight :kick:

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/228525/Pelicans-Make-Four-Year-$48M-Offer-To-Tyreke-Evans

The New Orleans Pelicans have made a four-year offer to Tyreke Evans worth $48 million. Sam Amick reports the deal at $44 million, but David Aldridge has $48 million.

It was a long shot to all of us Ty Evans fans, but......

Nooooooooooooooooo!

Martell Webster is returning to Washington, reaching a 4-year, $22 million deal, per Adrian Woj

Story here

The Washington Wizards have reached an agreement to re-sign free-agent forward Martell Webster to a four-year, $22 million contract, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Webster was a priority for the Wizards to retain as part of the team's returning core.
Webster, 26, is coming off the most productive of his eight professional seasons, averaging 11.4 points and 3.9 rebounds.
After being drafted by Portland out of high school in 2005 with the sixth overall pick, Webster played five seasons for the Blazers before joining the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2010.

David West is also staying with the Pacers -- 3 years @ $12 million per. Glad he's been able to stay healthy after that knee injury.

Webster had career highs in FT/3pt/PPG last season. I don't think this is a good long term signing for the Wizards. Although it is par for the course for that franchise.
