If MLB added 2 more teams, they could move to 8 divisions of 4 teams. You could have home and home series with the 12 non-division league opponents and one interleague which would have every team making the rounds every 4 years for a total of 96 games. You then have 54 division games with 3 home and homes each. That leaves 12 games. I think a fun way could be to have 3 2 game home and homes versus the teams that finished in the same place as you did in your division the years before. E.g. if you finished 3rd in your division, you'd play the other 3 3rd place teams.

Where did he say that? All he's saying is that if the so-called baseball purists don't want the electronic strike zone, why should we have electronic replays for on the field plays?

If the league had any stones at all....they'd tell every umpire that deems a catcher to be framing to make the call an automatic ball....better yet, a walk on any count. Of course, that would lead to a slew of arguments but would eventually put pitch framing to rest.

I don't disagree with the "**** framing" argument as a league. I simply say you cant take that approach as a team as long as the league hasn't.

Regarding the previous talk in this thread about Darvish being the "best of his career" something I'd sort of forgotten were the reports he's supposedly come to camp really in shape. I know that's quite the cliche but supposedly he'd added something like 25 lbs of muscle. Given he was also rehabbing a lot during the offseason that wouldn't really shock me. But, that could very likely be why we're seeing an uptick in his velocity.
I think Darvish will end up being the best SP on this staff

Not terribly interesting but the cubs traded with KC to get Donnie Dewees back. Gives them a lefty CF in AAA which is sorta nice. Gave up a pitcher who's not that big of a deal.

What is wrong with Adam Jones, Craig Kimbrel and Dallas Keuchel (other than reminding me of the Reuschel brothers)

I dont mean with us getting them, but as to not being signed yet.

Jones signed over the weekend supposedly.

As for Kimbrel and Keuchel its the loss of fastball

Not sure why other than they want a 5th OF.

i mean you can never have too much depth. Plus it's not like they really gave up anything. The pitcher wasn't better than the guys they are starting from A-AA and the cubs don't have a ton of high level batting depth. It's like Zag and that's about it unless I'm forgetting someone. Zag can't play CF either.

Interesting site. Guy writes a column about sports teams uniforms. Scroll down and see some interesting Cubs uniforms from the late 40s that I have never seen

Keeps the value of rentals up. Teams won't pay out for a 1 month rent.

Maybe.

To me, just way too many teams still in it at July. This won't help the quality IMO
