Caissie and Assad.

They have nothing in the works ATM but it would cost a top 100. Assad would make sense as he would gain a legit fan base here in San Diego. They love Mexican players. Plus born in TJ. That is a plus for the fan base that goes south of the border.

Rumor is Preller is demanding Shaw

**** him. Cubs are not in a dire need situation where they give away all of their top 100 for rentals.

Hard no and **** Preller.

He wants Wicks and Assad then I can see that. 1 year to get Horton ready I get and those 2 are expendable.

Cease is gaining traction.

Preller wants to shed to add a bat?

The highest deal that I would go with is a 3 for 1.

#1 has to be a top 100. Alcantara would start in LF on opening day. He has less current value to Caissie but might have a higher ceiling.

#2 is a MLB SP. Wicks and Assad should be on the table. Maybe both if the center piece is Alcantara. It deepens their rotation beyond King and Yu. Plus it removes payroll.

If Jed did this deal I am 100% fine with it. It pushes Brown into a late inning roll along side Hodge. Over all it puts the Cubs into October

Dodgers fleeced the Cubs in the Busch trade. Cubs gave up Ferris and HOPE, and they are both currently listed as top 100 prospects in baseball now

meanwhile, cubs got a league average player at 1B...yay!

We don't know that yet. Rookie years have little to do with a carrier trajectory.

11.1% walk rate. 28.6% SO rates are not bad for a first full year.

.322 BABIP is a bit high. Projections has that falling back to .305.

22 HR seems to be his projection.

So as a player it is not bad. As a 1B it leaves much to be desired.

I would wait a year. If he turns out expendable it is fine. Vlad Jr will be a F/A to lessen the pain from not paying Tucker.

TBH I would be fine with Them targeting Vlad Jr and moving Busch back to 2B. Those projections look solid at 2B.

Wasn't he like the 9th best 1b last year as a rookie? That is a major win for guys that are still unproven.

If Busch is the 9th best 1B last year, I’d be curious as to what metric they gauge that by?

As that would be a sign that 1B is a bit weak in MLB currently

Also, let’s stop the whole, “for a rookie” narrative. While yes, he was a rookie…he’s 27 years old already. He isn’t some super young raw unfinished product. It’s much more likely that who he is is already here
