I would rather target Turner. Gives a proven 1B if Busch sucks eggs.

I would also move Caissie to 1B in Iowa as a contingency and Alàcantara in RF.

See how it plays out giving proper depth to 1B and a few options going into 2026

So it sounds like Turner will be used at 1B and DH as needed and a emergency 3B.

I would return Workman. No room for a rule V locking up a spot.

I would guess Canario is another that they would want to trade also. No options and seeing how Jed paid for Turner Canario was not a viable 1B option.

Sense of urgency really is changing the vibe from last year

Why are you in such a hurry to get rid of Canario?

Why do you think anyone in the Top 9 needs to be traded?

Is bench strength a bad thing?

He has no options left

Suzuki also plays RF and LF

It is a wasted roster spot and locked in at that
.I prefer a more flexible bench that can adapt to match ups vs injury

I look at it as he has not taken a roster spot to date. And now they are hand cuffed to him.

They pivoted at 1B to Turner. Who brings vet experience that can roll off on Shaw.

Canario is just another guy that has not made a impact to date.

I would argue if a corner OF goes down the team is better with Turner at DH and Suzuki covering it. By far

Berti has played CF and stole 43 bags in 2022.

Brujan has played every position except catcher over his career.

Getting Turner means that he is the first guy up if a lefty pops in.

I am not enamored with Brujan but that flex has priority over a hitter post Turner.

Plus I would rather have Alcantara come up if issues happen in season. He is a far better talent.

By far better having soft hitting 41 year old ?

The only reason you’re saying that is because you haven’t seen Canario get the chance to play. I don’t know how good he can be, but I’m sure shit not ready to ship them out for nothing simply because he has no options.

I'll admit it. I didn't watch a lot last year... But Canario getting DFA'd for Turner seems, blah?

You have to look at it from the why part

Canario is not established. He lacks options. And they have 3 starters going through growing pains already.

He is not going to get a starting role. Injury to 1B you are not going to put him there. RF you don't want to lose O and Turner has no growing pains at DH while Suzuki is already an established corner OF.

It made sense to cut him . The depth at Iowa was enough to do it and those guys can go up and down this year as they are on the 40 man

Same issue with Davis. Another guy that did not work out as a Cub.

To be mad about it? Well he did not wreck Iowa post injury

Basically most are looking at 2022 pre injury. After that injury he has not even combined the at bats he had that year. And 467 is not a great number to surpass.

This is a long the lines of Soler. Not Schwarber

They will end up cutting another for Shaw. Jed might be able to buy Workman off of Detroit. Take him off of the 40.

I don't see much room for projects in bench roles on this team. They have too much uncertainty and need vets in those roles for stability

Yep. And it came quickly.

I figured it made sense to see what he could do. They clearly had seen enough and determined he wasn’t likely to do much.

While watching the OF I did like Alcantara the most. Set up man has been providing video.

It seems that they are tinkering with the 26 man also. Workman hit a HR but I see it coming down to can he play CF in a reserve role getting the spot.

I prefer them getting Canha

I thought that this was a possibility as he covers CF.
