Do you really need it explained why only judging someone by rings is shitty logic? Tren Dilfer>Dan Marino?
I am talking bears history and you can throw all the stats you want however the bottom line are super bowls.

how can you even compare dilfer and marino ? they were never on the same teams wow.

Bob Griese has the superbowls marino has the stats

If you picked Payton, then why not Sayers? Sayers probably had more raw talent than Sweetness. Game breaking speed, world class moves, returned kicks. Payton is the best all around player that has ever played the game, but I feel like Sayers may be one of the most talented ever.

If we get the Bears player in his NFL prime with no injury issues then I'll go Orlando Pace and Jared Allen. Build shit from the trenches out.

Peppers was better than either of them, if you're going to pick a FA.

The obvious pick is Walter Payton. He would be #1.

But Richard Dent would come a close second. Pass rushers are a premium in this league.

Agreed. Plus there's that movie "Brian's Song".

ND is horrible.
LOL @ "second tier" Hampton. Best player on the 85 defense.

If you want JJ Watt type impact then Dan Hampton is the first name you want on the board.

I am going to do what few on here like to and admit I was totally wrong here and you are completely right. I was either sleepy or playing poker online when making that post and should never have said that. While it was a little before my time watching the Bears, Danimal certainly would be a terror at the 5 tech in today's game.

My bad.

I absolutely get your point. I think for many it was the era that Sayers played in, the fact that he played on bad teams, and a limited body of work; particularly when compared to Payton. Payton was a three down back, record holder, sentimental favorite (Super Bowl, "Sweetness" nick-name) etc... But to use your own words, at #1 you take the best all around player.

How many kick-off and punt returns did Walter have?
