This is off topic, but kind of fits. There is a gas station near my work that has two air pumps/compressors. One is labeled Free Air, and the other is labeled Premium Air for 50 cents. I've seen people put money in the premium one. There is actually a button on the bottom that you can press twice to get free "premium" air.

It's not legal for a gas station here to charge for air.

No it fits exactly the point i was trying to make. Like my free couch analogy, you cant give it away but if you advertise it for $ 50.00 you will have a better chance to get rid of it .

People often assume organics are about healthy food. That is true is a few cases. But generally the point is more about supporting more sustainable agriculture and preventing bioaccumulation of toxic compounds in the environment. Just ask the gulf of mexico dead zone.

Gulf of Mexico 'dead zone'
The area of temporary hypoxic bottom water that occurs most summers off the coast of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico[23] is the largest recurring hypoxic zone in the United States.[24] The Mississippi River, which is the drainage area for 41% of the continental United States, dumps high-nutrient runoff such as nitrogen and phosphorus into the Gulf of Mexico. According to a 2009 fact sheet created by NOAA, "seventy percent of nutrient loads that cause hypoxia are a result of this vast drainage basin".[25] which includes the heart of U.S. agribusiness, the Midwest.

Organic firewood only burns properly if you put it in your organic fireplace.

I don't think that is the reason that most people buy organic. In my opinion most people do not care about the runoff issue, but rather care much much more about knowing what they are putting into their bodies. If I am going to pay more for something to be organic I personally care about the way it was raised within a strict guideline because of what it is putting into my body, not what it is preventing from going into the gulf of mexico.

Stop using cedar (cypress) mulch. Many don't realize that this type of mulch is just a bad idea.

To repeat...with an ax.

Well that is more humane than with an oily chainsaw. Even though it must have been a whole lot more painful for the tree. Would you rather get your arm cut off by a chainsaw or an axe?

Edit: The only thing the word organic guarantees is a higher price.

Chainsaw...absolutely. Even though it wouldn't be organic.

I think a lot of it is from corn runoff from producing Ethanol. I'm opposed to Ethanol. Ruins engines and is not better than gasoline for the environment.
