Lol so no answer on whomst SMU did actually beat, got it

You never addressed the original point both @Montucky and I made which was they had 2 bad losses one of which was getting crushed by OU.

I can accept the argument Bama is better than SMU when playing at their best but Bama doesnt play at their best consistently which is why they lost to Vandy and OU.

SMU is a more consistent team. They only lost 2 games to 2 good teams by 6 points. They were down big against Clemson and fought their way back. Bama was down big against OU and caved like the mentally soft bitches they are. The end.

JMO, but if a three loss team was going to get in, I think it should have been South Carolina.

Think that would be tough as both Bama and SC have 3 loses but Bama beat SC head to head.

I think you missed the point the committee made. I think if Bama lost a close one to OU, they get in. But they didn’t and lost in an embarrassing matter. It’s all really pointless now though as the CFP Committee shut it down

That’s a game that SC gave away too. SC likely gets in if their stud QB doesn’t get injured vs LSU

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Bulls
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Nebraska Cornhuskers
  2. Villanova Wildcats
Just to get away from the playoff bracket for a second, but did anyone see who got hired as the new Head Coach of Appalachian State?

Saying "Bama is a better team" than others, including SMU is based on their history. If their uniforms said Oregon State and they had teh same schedule and same results, I doubt people would be saying they should get in.

While it sounds logical to say the goal is to get the best 12 teams in, that leaves the determination of "the best 12" to very subjective decision making.

The goal should be to give every Power 5 team a fair chance to earn their way in. I don't know that I would bet on IU to beat Bama if they played, but imagine not putting IU in when their only loss was at the team then ranked #2. Yes, hey absolutely had an easy schedule, but they did what they were supposed to do. Bama frankly, did not.

Meanwhile ND with a ridiculously easy schedule and the worst loss of anyone, gets a home game.

Now, having said that, I wait to see Bama matched up against the Illini where they will repeat Georgia's result against FUI last year after being left out.

If SMU is in before the conference title game, loses a close one and then is out, what's to stop teams in that situation from skipping the conference title game in the future?

I think the committee has to consider weird shit like that in this day and age. Conferences too.

I think Conference Title Games need to be eliminated and you just make it a 16team playoff with no ridiculous seeding— i.e., no byes for teams because they won a crappy conference.

And all conferences should play the same number of conference games.

The Conference Title games are at least merit based. That is better than the committee trying to force 4 or 5 or 6 SEC teams.

If you cant finish in the top 2 or 3 of your conference then shut the **** up and try again next year.

I fully believe the SEC is the strongest conference, but I would have taken Bama out of any considertation once they lost to Vandy. Sorry.

The other thing is the SEC is stacked because of pure greed. When did Texas and Texas A&M get in the Southeast? Teams chased the money so dont cry now when doing so puts you at a disadvantage.

Penn State got easily the best draw.
Yes, and for no apparent reason.

tOSU won at Penn State, and lost to Oregon by 1 point. Penn State finished ahead of them due to tOSU losing to Michigan, and Penn State avoiding Oregon in the regular season.

Ohio State was #3 before a 3 point loss, and now in order to win it all, faces Tennessee, Oregon, Texas and Georgia .

Penn State gets SMU at home, and then faces Boise State. Inexplicable. But as long as someone whispers "Good luck in the big game" to James Franklin before they play, he'll find a way to lose.
