After seeing what Clemson did to SMU, do you actually think SMU is the better team than Bama?

Look, I hate Bama more than both of you…but, the reality is Bama has the better resume despite 3 losses to SMU’s 2

Bama has shown the ability to beat top level teams, SMU has not. Which team is the one with the best chance of winning a game or two in the playoff? It’s Bama

This is about getting the best teams in the playoff and if that’s what you want is the best teams in it, then Bama is the choice over SMU
They lost on a last second FG in conference championship so not sure your point. I see no value in admitting the 4th best SEC team with 3 losses.

The SEC should just schedule very fewer bigger matchups so it gets more teams in. This is a flawed Bama team for sure but it does have the talent to play with the better teams at times. SMU on the other hand has shown that it cannot play with the better teams.
Exactly this. If Bama doesn’t get in, it will only incentivize teams to stop scheduling good out of conference matchups and go for the softest schedule possible every year

So you’ll take the second best team from a far inferior conference with 2 losses instead, got it

As a Texas fan, they deserve all the criticism they've earned. They had every chance to win it and should have done so, but didn't.

I do think Sark had a point though: it seemed like the first half there were a lot of calls which went Georgia's way that wiped out Texas first downs or big plays. It's almost like the SEC was saying, "Oh no you don't. You don't get to join our conference and win it in your first year- that would somewhat invalidate all those years we claimed we were by far the best in the country."
Replying to my post rather than editing the original for posterity, I do not believe Texas should be in the post-season.

Or Georgia just had texas’ number this year

Also, who has Texas even beaten this year? What’s their best win? Texas A&M?

They got the easy first year schedule, while Oklahoma got the gauntlet it’s first year

Almost as if the SEC decided Texas had the better chance of making the playoff this year, so the SEC gave them the easier schedule to make sure they made it…if you wanna go conspiracy style

Should just made it 16 teams like the FCS.

Wouldn't have these types of discussions.

Bama lost to Vandy and OU so had nothing to do with too many big matchups. Vandy is 3-5 and OU 2-6 in SEC.

Your points are salient. I wish I had a comeback, but I don't, so I'm just going to STFU and wait for Oregon vs Georgia.

We would be arguing about whomst should get the 16 spot and who shouldn’t get in still

Yeah, those big matchups couldn’t have been draining on them to help those inferior teams get them or anything

I prefer Texas to SMU or Bama. They lost to a team that has been a contender for years in one of the elite conferences.

Texas deserves it more than some of the other teams.

There we disagree. If you want to be in, then beat the best or go home and STFU.
I mean, it’s 12 teams in it. There’s gonna be a couple teams that don’t have a super strong resume in it IMO

Texas has to love its situation as the #5 seed hosting Clemson to get to play Arizona state

Oh those were big matchups…for Vanderbilt and Oklahoma. That’s why you just have to bow to Saban. Every team Alabama played treated it like the fulcrum of their season. It is so hard to put the target on your back the way he did and then sustain for a decade under that unrelenting pressure.

Texas with a 5 seed, which is odd because they only have 1 strong win @TAMU. Penn St, ND both are in similar situations with a lacking schedule.

I will take a team that didnt lose to 2 teams at bottom of SEC. 24-3 loss to OU is garbage.
