You know what makes me sick? Nancy ass bike riders that get in large groups and do that shit together on public roads and **** up traffic. You're not in the fucking Tour De France, despite your matching spandex outfits. Also, there's a fucking bike trail right there. Fucking weirdos.

Not the sissy Harley-boy accountant types, I'm talking real bikers. Peloton, Echelon, other options as well. Question is - what are your experiences - especially after 12 months - do you still use the machine?

PS - I don't want any crap for the douchey use of space. It's still a long away from football
I got a Schwinn 170 stationary bike a year and a half ago. It not sexy and doesn’t have the bragging rights of a Peloton, but it does the job. I’m using it now to train for RAGBRAI while I wait for the ice and snow to melt here in Minnesota so I can get on my real bike and get outside.

Suggestion: don't sell the bike. Keep it, and use those Michigan trails.
I enjoyed it and was surprised. But gym comes first I really don’t have time for both. I’m not the type that likes to keep things I don’t use cluttering the house. Maybe I will set aside a couple days a week just for the trails we have some good ones

I get it, but I'd hate to give up some of those trails.

Always thought the peloton craze was weird. Like spend a couple grand to sit inside? My buddy has the treadmill and it seems cultish. It’s also free to exercise outside

I ride my Peloton once weekly, it’s my least favorite cardio workout but it’s a nice supplement to the other 6 days where I run the streets or hit my stair master or play tennis.

It’s pretty boring and I don’t recommend it overall, but I do get a good leg burn going and sweat my ass off.

Or just get a hobby farm, a porsche, some long hair, and start slaying tens.

My brother in law has worked at Erik's Bike shop up here in MN for probably 10 years and always has the most recent model year of various super high end road and mountain bikes. I know he hates peloton but has something similar where he hooks up his own bike and his system has a community of tour pros he's always riding against. Last I checked he uses it all the time in cold months or when he's on kid duty. I'll hit him up later to see if I can ask him what it is.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Peloton is overrated and a bit unnecessary, especially from a cost perspective. It requires a monthly membership of around $40 bucks, correct? **** that in my view.

I've been using a stationary Schwinn upright exercise bike I got about 6 or 7 years ago -- yeah, it doesn't have a gigantic screen or any of the other bells/whistles, but the resistance goes up to 25, has some different exercise modes, and monitors everything (miles, calories, etc.). It also cost about 1/3 or 1/4 of what Peloton costs, which was $500 and there's no monthly payment. Sure, you'll have to open it up on occasion and oil some of the parts inside and tighten the pedals (if you like to stand up and ride) so it doesn't make that annoying fucking sound sometimes, but it's worth it and you can get as intense a workout as any spin class or peloton bike. I'll get at least 10 years out of the thing, if not more.

Word.

I mean I can kind of forgive the stationary bike thing. Maybe you have serious time restraints or a large family where a 60 minute bike ride is difficult to schedule.

However, treadmills have always weirded me out. You are literally running in place and willingly spending money for the privilege.

I'd much rather run outside and spend that money on a Caribbean vacation, but to each their own I suppose.

This is literally what he said he is selling right now to upgrade. Also he has a wahoo kickr.

Trying to pin him down on what he likes I guess is a bit tough. He's an enthusiast. He likes whatever is new and expensive.

Lol. Why? Some people just want it in the house so they will actually run. If it's in the next room, there's more incentive to actually run. For some people, it works; for others, it just sits there and is a place to hang clothes. My point is, there are legit reasons to own a treadmill, especially in a cold weather state. People act like it's equivalent to fucking a donkey or something.
