That's a shocker. He had 154 tackles last year & was 1st team probowler the year before. Never been injured. He didn't fit Dan Quinn's new scheme apparently & they drafted Parson's, but they just released him which saves them nothing against the $10m cap hit & $7.2 (before guarantee's) salary.

Cowboys fans seem to think it was the right move.

If you think Danny T is a bad athlete, Jaylon is worse and he's 26.

PFF had him ranked 13th out of 81 LBers......someone better call Dallas and tell them they made a mistake

Cowboys released LB Jaylon Smith.

Smith started all 16 games for the Cowboys last season and led the team with 154 tackles, but he was frequently scrutinized for his lack of speed and, perhaps more importantly, effort. He started Weeks 2 and 3 for Dallas before playing just 40% of snaps in Week 4. The Cowboys still owe Smith $7.2 million for this season. He's free to sign elsewhere in the meantime.

effort and lack of speed could be a problem

I thought he was a freak athlete when drafted? I know he had the injury, but did it zap all his speed?

What the hell happened to him? Wasn't he highly thought of as recently as a year or two ago?

Does he have his own cereal by chance?
