That doesn't change the fact that they're deep and amazing farm right now will contribute to their rebuilding.

they will come up, play well, and be dealt. that is not rebuilding, and try to follow the history of the royals in the past 10 years of what they have done with prospects and good talent.

Then I guess they better hope that all of them develop at the same time together a la Rays...or else this will continue to be the cycle.

Either way, it continues to suck to be a Royals fan.

So you have three OF'ers? The Royals have a solid or better prospect at every position and in the rotation basically. I've heard this could be the best farm system in a quarter of a century. And that was BEFORE the Greinke haul.

greaaaaaaaaaaaaaat! they have an amazing farm system. still not going to win you a world series, but if having the top farm system is your expectation and what you want, cool. they do not have the money to keep any of those players IF they actually pan out. they dont have the money to trade specs away as chips for a proven mlb stud that has a high price tag. so you are banking on prospects all becoming studs in the mlb.

also in the AL central with minny able to spend money, and the whitesox and tigers spending money already, they will never compete unless they strike it rich with every single prospect.

No one said they were going to win a World Series? I don't even think anyone mentioned that besides you.

When you're farm system is so deep that guys that are about 25th in your farm system overall could be in most other teams top 10, you know you have a pretty deep fuckin system. And that's why they're bound to develop some damn good talent. When you have this much depth, it's unlikely that your organization falters that much and has that much of a collapse that none of them pan out.

Never said none will pan out. but from a business standpoint you will not make your bottom line larger by going this route, the only thing you are doing is treading water at this point due to fear, or other financial restrictions that KC may have. If they want to make more money they will have to spend more money, which spending x amount of dollars more will increase the x bottom line by a wider margin making the profit that much more.

Oh, and there's also something called "cost-controlled years". Johnny Giavotella, Chris Dwyer, Eric Hosmer, and Mike Moustakas are likely to see some time next season in the majors, so that's their future leadoff 2B, future rotation mate (to go along with Lamb, Duffy, and Montgomery), future RF'er whose one of the most complete hitting prospects in the minors, and future 3B whose also one of the most complete hitting prospects in the minors with his only weakness being his below average walkrate.

no one is arguing their status as a farm system, those player WILL all have to pan out for the Royals to be competitive and thus bringing more fans to the games, where they will feed the bottom line. if not than it is the same fiscal disaster each year for the team.

This team has about 30 prospects who can be on a lot of teams top 10 list, I doubt they need all of them to pan out for the Royals to be competitive.

but when you look at the whole picture, they may end up playing descent ball, and may not be a push over, but you still need to be better than the sox, twins, tigers to get fans interested again. with the way the dynamic of the royals is setup, it will be very hard for them to get the fans excited to think maybe we can do something.

Just for the hell of it, here's part of an article off of FanGraphs:

The declarations on how Kansas City fared on the Zack Greinke return varies by expert. Kevin Goldstein tabbed himself a fan of the deal while Keith Law and our own Marc Hulet shared the sentiment of quantity over quality. Regardless of the opinions on the return, why did Kansas City feel the need to move Greinke now?

Rany Jazayeli reminds us on a daily basis that Dayton Moore’s – and therefore the Royals – modus operandi revolves around the 2012 season. The Royals’ farm system is universally considered as the best in baseball – even the stingy Martians give them high marks – with some estimating the system to be the finest in league history. A few of those talented prospects will begin flooding the big league roster as early as this season (possibly the Opening Day roster if Danny Duffy makes the Royals’ rotation out of spring) with the rest phasing in over the next season or two.

good read. but no one is arguing that.

im speaking from a business side that they will have to spend some money to get to be a contender and become profitable.

Arguing about what? I just wanted to post that since we were talking about their farm system. I know what you mean, but I think they can follow the Rays model and at least have a good year in 2012 or 2013. I don't think an 85-77 season by 2014 is too far-fetched.

neither do i. The farm is stacked, and the more specs the better chance more pan out, i just think it is sad that a franchise like that has to wait until 2014 to have an 85 win season, they could do so much better. but the revenue isnt there. poor KC fans.

those ******* are going to give us grief during the baseball season.

They already do, the Sox were 10-8 vs them last year, not good. they arent a push-over like the Pirates or Orioles. It would be nice to see them do well. make the Division a little better.

Royals will give us fits. Starters we've never faced before will throw 2-hit, 8 inning ballgames against us. Same with Cleveland.

We need for that stuff to not go on, The Sox need to beat up on bad teams this year if we want to win the Division and go deep into the playoffs, 9-9 vs. Cleveland, 5-13 vs. The Twins, 8-10 vs. Detroit and 10-8 vs. The Royals is not going to cut it. We cannot rely on the NL to win the Division, the Sox need to grab the division by the balls right away.
