I mean, Luka just got stolen from Dallas so it's worth a call.

Mitch got 4 years and clearly regressed from year 2-3 and clearly had less physical abilities.

Fields is 8-4 in his last 12 starts - with Russ the Steelers went 6-5 and the Bears went 5-12 with Caleb. Want to know why Justin and Caleb sucked? Because the interior of the offensive line has been dismal and they were young QBs who at the time hadn't fully figured the NFL game out yet.

Fields is going to have a strong market this off-season because he's got a load of talent and there's not a lot of viable options on the market but a whole lot of teams looking to get a new QB.
Mentioning fields and Wilson's records in Pittsburgh last year without mentioning the schedules they faced is disingenuous. Wilson had a much much tougher schedule.

I think Pitt (they'll always be good), Vegas (I like what Carroll has done for QBs' confidence in the past + scheme fit + intriguing weapons), Jets (good defense, intriguing weapons) and Rams (elite coaching, elite weapons) are all as good of landing spots without the worry of major competition.

I highly doubt the Rams look to tank - they took the Eagles to the limit in the playoffs and if it's just Kupp and Stafford they're replacing - they'll probably be fine because McVey is a damn genius. But I can't get a read on who they're comfortable with if they are in fact looking to get younger at QB but still stay competitive.
  • Pitt being good did nothing for the QBs they've had since Ben. That's a pretty meaningless point to me. Pitt has been taking em in and spitting em out and not making anyone better.
  • Carroll probably won't work with the QB directly. I doubt he's telling Chip Kelly how to run the offense... given he's not an offensive guy himself. I don't see the intriguing weapons. I'd say the Raiders have as bad as it really gets in terms of "intrigue". It's one of the least talented teams in the NFL, top to bottom in a division loaded with good defense.
  • I don't see the fit with the Jets, but at least they have a good WR and RB. OC is a first time play caller and would need to reinvent the Lions offense to cater to Fields.
  • You don't think they tank, but they are possibly dumping Kupp for nothing and swapping Stafford for Fields? How does that add up? I'm not saying they try to lose, but they're clearly not trying to win. That's a reboot.

Fields apparently wanted there.
We don't know what options he had to choose from, but yea... he did want to go there. Again, not sure why other than if he wanted to be with a good HC and a team more capable of winning. For his own development, it was an average at best option.

Heard the Steelers are interested in trading for Trevor Lawrence for what it's worth

Fields is one of the better back-ups in the league, that is what he is. He may get a chance to start but that does not make him a starting quality QB.

4 blowout losses from Russell and he regressed back to who he was in Denver. Teams figured out every Pittsburgh was going to try to do and they finished the season worse than they started.

Let's see you name the 32 players better than him.

After this call they should hit up the Chargers and see who hangs up on you quicker.
Honestly, if I were the Jags, I'd strongly consider dumping Lawrence if I'm returning something like a Stafford trade got. But, I'm sure Coen wouldn't be cool with that. They'd immediately become a black hole for a bit. But... if the Jags suck and get a top 10 pick plus another 1st from a team like Pit, they could possibly find themselves a new franchise QB in the 2026 draft.

Most of this thread is talking about the QB market across the NFL. He just happens to be a free agent this off-season and there's interest from some posters, including myself in where people wind up.

Nobody is saying he's Tom fucking Brady - just that Tom Brady needed to DEVELOP to become Tom Brady. And absolutely - if you're unable to comprehend that simple point you probably should sit this and most threads out. But rather than a weirdo dipshit I'll just ask you this - include Rodgers, Kirk and Stafford and go through that Spotrac list of QBs and let's see you rank the FAs as both short-term (1 year) and longer term (the next 3 years).

Dude, parents don’t love their children as much as you love Justin. Relax a little.

They'd have $83m in dead money this year to do that deal. I have a better chance at starting for the Steelers than that shit happening.

And even if it did happen - that's another team that would need a QB to play games for them next year.

Allbright is a pretty big tool but seems to be pretty plugged in around the league. He also is most definitely not a fan of fields, so him not thinking he'll be a starter absolutely could be bias. I think fields certainly has a chance at earning a job with the amount of openings and available qbs

Every major news breaker last week said the same thing - there's going to be a market for Fields in free agency. To believe Albright's post is to believe that teams across the board are going to prefer Trey Lance, Mac Jones or Zach Wilson over him.

Keep hitting them with facts and common sense!

Other than a couple “new” profiles, these are basically the same group of anti-Fields posters from a year ago LOL.

The same could be said for the pro-Fields posters that were so sure the Bears were going to pass on Williams and take "Da Haul".

Want to know why Justin and Caleb sucked?

You’d think—if Justin was worth half as much as what you’re implying/suggesting—Pittsburgh wouldn’t screw around, they’d have extended him already because they don’t need to think over their QB situation—but they haven’t done so. In fact, they openly stated that they will keep only one between him and a washed Russ. Why is that?

I think those who argue so arduously know why, despite their best whataboutism, misdirection, or contrarian retorts.

At this point, Fields is a starter on a bad team and a back up on a contender, because there are years of tape where he doesn’t see the open guy, and he can’t throw to win you a game.

I wish him well, and I hope he gets himself a nice new contract and more consistent home, because the kid is likable—But—enough of trying to make him something he’s not and never has been.
