Eklund? Well then it has to be true then.... (ow, I think I sprained my eyeballs in an eyeroll).

I will say this about Eklund, he has more sources than all of us combined. Also, just because a rumor doesn't turn into a deal, it doesn't mean the rumor isn't true.

If there are 5 teams are talking to the Yotes about Turris (let's just say the Hawks, Canucks, Oilers, Flames, and Wings) and Turris gets traded to the Wings - it doesn't mean that the other 4 rumors to the Hawks/Nucks/Oilers/Flames are untrue. I mean, it might take 50 actual rumors/talks to make a deal, I don't know the percent.

Basically what I'm saying is I believe a lot more rumors of his are true than people give him credit for. Just because they don't turn into an actual deal doesn't mean anything.

it isnt like he is hit or miss, he is 99% miss. A lot of the rumors that come from him are just plain stupid. One would tend to believe he makes up shit just for the story, that is how bad he is.

again, he is just a blogger.

anyone of us can make a site and say "i have sources stating this and that" all the time.

That is a weird post.

Why is that? I think it was pretty logical what I said.

I don't think he is the best source, but who is when it comes to rumors? You have to take a rumor for what it is. Too many people take a guy like Eklund for fact, and rip him when "wrong"...when the rumor may have been correct, it just didn't turn into a deal.

I think there is literally zero value in everything he posts.

Anyone can look at available players and think up a few teams (given their needs, cap space and their desire to spend) that make sense as locations they could land. If one in 10 actually hits, that's considered a big win.

And lets look at the main reason why people read his rumors- they like to see their team mentioned in potential deals. Trades are interesting and people will read anything that mentions players and/or teams they're interested in when it comes to them.

Just because they don't turn into an actual deal doesn't mean anything

Yeah, it means they are bullshit. Rumors are by nature bullshit- especially when you don't even have to name your sources. But hey, if you like reading them- by all means, go ahead. I've long since given up on reading anything eklund says. The guy is a running joke for a reason.

Put the other business aside for a second, and what you just wrote is,

that in order to be a rumor it doesn't have to come to anything.

Fair enough - or in different words -- Rumors are largely bullshit. Right, that often is a fact- but, and here is the important part of the entire thing - as a fan, I am only interested in sources that do not consistently spout unsubstantiated bullshit ....

because, anyone can do that. Edited to add: Stephen Colbert has made a career out of it - but it is clear to most, that it is for entertainment purposes... (end edit).

___

I sort of agree with Buff -but think there is another reason for his continual bs, too - SEO spamming.

In a normal world, guys that don't produce anything of worth end up getting lost - but not in the internet world where everyone and their dog can basically post unsubstantiated rumors.

I still think Eklund has SOMETHING...he did break the buff trade 2 summers ago

but I wouldn't go off his word alone...99% of the stuff he pulls up is garbage and fake

Yes, I know that he has --- however I will note that flipping a coin (and making the same call every time) is statistically supposed to come up with results 50% of the time.

So...the Blackhawks call the Coyotes and talk to them about Turris. It is reported that the Blackhawks have interest in Turris. Turris then gets traded to the Canucks...so that means the Blackhawks were interested in Turris was bullshit? Doesn't make sense because it was true, even though a trade didn't happen.

A rumor is a rumor, it isn't fact and it doesn't mean it turns into a trade.

My point is that there are hundreds of rumors out there. For a rumor to be true, it doesn't have to result in a deal. I'm sure NHL GMs/Asst GMs around the league had conversation today about certain players...and a lot of it won't result in a trade.

I guess that's all I have to say about the matter. Tons of other websites have rumors and they have a very, very low "success rate" as well - and there is an obvious reason for that.

 he has no real sources!

all he does is look at what players are rumored to be available per the press reports ( all available to the public ) and makes up his own shit.

ecklund should never be used as a real source. i learned this after following him forever, he is just a fraud I mean blogger.

You know the disappointing thing is that clowns like Eklund -they actually end up giving the entire blog media format a bad name -in that there are guys out there that are actual journalists who know what they are talking about, write rumours and do get a lot more stuff correct.

Take Dreger for example.... yes, at this point it is actually all about quality (leastwise for me) - others can worry about their own mileage variance.

Let there be no confusion, Eklund is pretty low on the totem poll of rumors...but I still believe he has more legitimate sources than everyone here combined. He gets things right, he gets credit for things when he does, and he gets a whole lot "wrong". That's what happens when you report rumors though.

Ok: "The Hawks call the Coyotes..." etc etc)

Based upon what? The fact that it is never shown to be based upon anything - and the fact that it never happens ( think about it tbo half of the board called Buff being traded a couple of years ago ...), makes it as valid as any of the bogus Kane rumors - like he is going to be on the next Dancing with the Stars, or appear on the X Factor eating cheetah scats all for 20 cents off his next cab ride. (Someone better check that- I'd hate to be right about those ones...).

I think I got a consistent track record when it comes to Bloggers that do this sort of stuff ...

he.is.never.right.

Dale Tallon getting fired. The Byfuglien trade. Numerous signings. Craig Anderson getting traded. The recent Vancouver/Florida trade. Those are ones I can remember, obviously there have been more and there have been even more that didn't end up happening.

He is rarely right...but rumors in general are rarely right. That's the game or rumors.

This seems like a Stalberg situation to me...You have to take it for what it is. A rumor is a rumor, it isn't fact.

So does Justin Bieber (with his "music") ---- what does that tell you? :shot:

1) People are morons who will spend their money on complete shit.

2) I wish I knew how to take advantage of their stupidity for personal gain.
