GERD? I had that. not anymore, i quit smoking cigs and started eating a lot of lacto-fermented veggies, especially jalapenos. totally got my gut in check. maybe look into that.
I have prescription strength antacids. Doctor actually wants to do some procedure, can't remember what it is, but if I'm doing that I'm waiting on it.

I'm actually kidding as well, I hate ketchup. I just get tired of hearing people say how you're supposed to eat something, especially when it is a 'Chicago thing.'

I do prefer Aurelio's, only because I don't know of Lou's near me. The best pizza in the Chicagoland area is actually Joe's Italian Villa, on 85th and Harlem.

YES YES YES!!!! Hands down the best thin crust pizza in all of Chicagoland! Seriously if you live far away drive your ass all the way down there and have this pizza. The best crust, toppings (especially sausage), and sauce combination. It is truly flawless pizza. The sausage makes my knees buckle. It's so damn delicious.

Have a cup of their minestrone soup too. They put meat in it and it is tasty.

I think I'll go there tomorrow.

Other notables,
Salernos
Parlermos on 63rd St
Premium Pizza
Pete's Pizza

Plus all the famous joints: Ginos, Giordanos, Connies, Uno, Lou Malnatis....

This is true. I remember we had talked about this over at CBMB. Gino's East is pizza toppings on top of cornbread, Giordanos is a a bread bowl full of gross sauce. Only Malnati's has the perfect balance of crust, sausage wheel, cheese and tomatoes. all those other deep dish pies are made by a bunch of jabronies.

I recently had a deep dish tasting of Connie's, Gino's, Giordano's, and Lou's

Gino's: Best tasting crust
Giordano's: Best cheese flavor
Lou's: Best sauce plus had the second best cheese and crust. (Winner to me)
Connie's: Best at nothing but still tasty.

I hear great things about Pequods. Anyone been there?

If you grow up on Aurelio's it would be hard to get it out of your mind - thin crust only. So many good places in Chicagoland, but Aurelio's is it down here. I ordered an italian beef from a place named chicago pizza and they put it on a soft roll. They have to know that doesn't work, but the beef was probably scala's.

If someone opened a Portillo's in Naples/Ft. Myers they'd probably make a killing.

The best deep dish pizza place in SW FL didn't make it. The place was called Chicago Pizzeria on Pine Ridge Rd. in Naples, they closed about 5 years ago. Since there isn't a decent hot dog on the entire west coast, a Portillos would probably do well in the Ft. Myers area. The only good pizza I ever had after an exhaustive search was Taste of New York near the Edison mall. And it appears they closed as well, I'll bet the economy killed a lot of restaurants in that area I used to frequent.

You have to drive all the way to Ft. Lauderdale for a Chicago style dog...on Sunrise Blvd...lol.

I lived in Orlando for a while, there is no good pizza to be found there. Florida must be a pizza-unfriendly state

One of the guys on my referee crew knows the owners of Joe's, so depending on where we are working that Friday we'll end our night there. Just so fucking good. Everything you say is spot on.

I'm going to try that minestrone next time I'm in there.

Let's put it this way, it was so bad I used to order Lou Malnati's frozen online and had it shipped. I looked in Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Miami, Ft. Myers, and Palm Beach county. I had to travel a lot with the exception of the panhandle, and only found one good place in Naples...and even they went out of business.

BTW, didn't mean to be rude yesterday on other thread.
