It was my second time seeing billy joel and he was good both times but Elton was incredible. Like you I was/am a bigger fan of BJ than EJ but EJ put on a heck of a show. He really jammed out, which surprised me. Figured he would be a by the numbers guy but him and his band really went off on a few songs. They played a bunch of songs together too which was really cool.

Friday: Built to Spill, The Jesus Lizard, Yo La Tengo, Tortoise

Friday is the day I'd like to go to; contemplating taking the day off work. I've seen Tortoise and Yo La Tengo before, and the Jesus Lizard back when they were Scratch Acid.

Former Chicago band Red Red Meat just did a bit of a reunion tour to support the 2CD "deluxe" reissue of Bunny Gets Paid, which is a fantastic album IMO. Haven't gotten the reissue yet as Laurie's wanted ABOVE list price for it. Hopefully tomorrow. Anyhow, I saw the second show at the Empty Bottle and I thought it was incredible, best show I've been to in years (with possible exception of Tinariwen). Catch them if they come around again.

April 18th $12 Qwel (of Typical Cats) and Robust at Reggie's Rock Club. should be a good underground hip hop, Chicago hip hop show. I've seen Robust, he was good live but only played for about 20-30 minutes. I've always wanted to see Qwel or Typical Cats. later I'm gonna put a link to a mix of what i listen to up on the board. you can download it and what not.

also, i gotta keep remembering that music taste is subjective so i shouldn't scold other people's opinions in my mind. I'm sure a lot of people don't like what i listen to.

Last show i went to was Man Man in October. I've seen em 3to4 times now and they are amazing live. http://tinyurl.com/cwdaew heres a good video of man man

I'm seeing Atmosphere on the 15th here in Arizona. Should be a good show since they re-released their God Loves Ugly CD.

Does anyone know what happened to Plain White T's for Taste of Chicago? They were on the lineup, and now they're gone.

Summer Fest should be pretty good. Not sure what I'm going to go see, but there's some decent stuff to choose from, among: Bon Jovi, Rise Against, Keith Urban, Talib Kweli, Lupe Fiasco, Asher Roth, No Doubt, The Roots, Gavin DeGraw, The Fray, and Kid Rock.

They still have 2 of the Marcus Ampitheater concerts to announce. For some reason I think that Taylor Swift will be one of them. Just have that feeling. I think All American Rejects could be the other one.

Out of those announced, I think The Fray and Kid Rock are the one's that interest me most. Going to have to see though what else they announce. Nothing really wows my socks off. If they get All American Rejects, like a few years ago, which I think is a strong possibility, I am definitely going to get tickets to that.

Lupe, Talib, and the Roots at summerfest? Wow. I'll definitely be checking that out. Have you seen The Roots on Jimmy Fallon? Easily the coolest band on late night.

Also last summer I went to the Rock The Bells show in Tinley Park. One of the best concerts I've ever been to. Nas, Mos Def, A Tribe Called Quest, Redman Methodman, Murs, Immortal Technique and a few others.

I have been listening to Alicia Keys Unplugged. Great stuff kinda throw back to old R&B meets hip hop. For something completely different try OAR live at MSG. Great fun party band that is easy to listen to. U2's new album is great and they always amazing live. I could go on and on as this is a topic I enjoy as much as talking about the Bulls.

Something about U2 really turns me away, can't quite figure out what it is but I was never able to get into their music. I feel the same way about Dave Matthews Band. OAR is a band I've been meaning to check out for quite awhile, the few songs I've heard have been pretty good chill music. Which CD would you recommend that isn't live?

Just saw The Hold Steady play a Christian college in Grand Rapids Mich.

Interesting show. No booze allowed, which is strange for a HS show, and the crowd was a lot of students from the school, so the tales of drug addiction and Catholicism may not be the best for the audience.

But they rocked. And there was a cool pipe organ that the HS played for a few tunes.

Good show.

The Roots were unbelievable live! I saw J5 a few years back at lollapalooza when it was still in Tinley Park, also a very good show.

Have you seen The Roots on the Jimmy Fallon show? It's pretty cool to have such a band on late night.

yeah it is really cool that they are on there. I have to get up super early for work (530 Am eastern) so I haven't had a chance to see them on there but I have read some interviews with ?uestlove about it.

I saw J5 at Bonnaroo a few years back. Best fay of music ever. Here is how the day went (might have the order mixed up but saw them all that day consecutively)

J5
Jack Johnson
a cool blue grass band (who knew?)
Allman Brothers
Trey Anistasio (solo; saw Mike Gordon earlier in the day as well)
Dave Matthews
Widespread Panic

All outdoors with about 100,000 people.

I haven't been to too many shows since then b/c nothing can compare to that really.

Eminem is back. Great music video and good song. I love how he just attacks everyone here.

Obviously, since it is Eminem, NSFW.

The songs are catchy especially Miley Cyrus but some of those Disney kids are bad singers like Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens.

Vanessa may be a bad singer, but man is she hot. We really need to see more of her. She should have her own channel.

She is one hot piece of ass... I know from experience dude. If ya know what I mean.

I'm listening to the Foo Fighters live and acoustic "Skin and Bones" CD. It's really good, those of you who haven't heard it I highly recommend it.

Also....

Check out the new Rock The Bells 2009 lineup...

Tribe was awesome last year, too bad they won't be back. Nas will be great as usual... I wonder who those special guests will be.
