I guess my grandma is on the decline. She has been in the ICU since the 15th and i guess her lungs are just done. My uncle is trying to get hospice care set up so she can go home. It's not a big shock to me or anything but it's just been a shitty year. We haven't even gone to visit her in the hospital because I can't bring myself to step foot in that ICU again

I hate to admit this, but my grandmother died in that ICU as well, and that is one of the things that kept me away from there when your Dad was there. I feel like a total idiot, and a shallow ****** for that. I apologize.

I don't fault you for not going. Wait till she is home.

Over the weekend, a coworkers boyfriend just out of the blue passed away. You may have heard about it.

They were getting ready to move in and start their life together. The office I work in is very small. The owner, his son in law, this young lady, and the wife and our other. It is gonna be a tough few weeks.

And may the angels see you in, Brett. You were a good man, very funny, and entertaining.

You don't have to apologize for that at all, I understand, i'm sure my dad wouldnt have wanted you to see him or remember him that way anyways so please don't feel bad about not visiting him there. It's a depressing place

I know I don't have to, and I agree he wouldn't have wanted me to see him like that either, however, I consider him a good friend and honestly look up to him. As such, I should have afforded him the courtesy of a visit. I didn't want to remember him like that either, and, in some small way, feel that by remembering the happy times, his laugh, eye roll, the all too frequent "huh!?", is the best thing to do. That is the courtesy I afford him.

Perhaps that is selfish or wrong, and the only way I can deal with it.

Thinking of you Lauren. I have lost both sets of my grandparents in my lifetime, some to the horrible C word. There are never words that are good enough other then knowing others are there to support you and your family during this time.

Sorry to hear of the loss of your friend Jako. It's one thing when you lose someone that you dont see alot of, but when it is someone you see regularly or talk about with another alot, it cuts deep. Well, we can look at it this way, with the year many of us have had, we have a lot of good people waiting for us in whatever afterlife we believe in....hopefully the beer is cold and tapped already.

I have held the belief that when you do pass on, whether heaven or hell await/exist, you gain all knowledge. For example, you know the truths of the world, you learn what life should be like, you gain the insight that tell you when the Cubs will win a World Series, if ever. You find out how your family deals with it and what your kids will grow up to be and their lives. Shit like that.

I know, it is probably just what i tell myself to comfort me when it comes to the subject of death. But I like the idea.

An update to Lauren's post. We have visited my mother-in-law at the hospital. She requires too much oxygen to bring her home. She was having a good day when we visited her. She was up, alert, eating & oxygen levels were up. The doctors seem to have conflicting ideas of how much time she has. As for being in the ICU, It ended up not being as bad as we thought to go in there. This week is already tough cause Halloween is Tom's birthday
<

Thanks for everybody's continued support.
