The official Thrashers Insider has had some interesting tweets recently after what seemed to be the last hope (and prospective owner) to keep the team in Atlanta backed out.

If it has indeed happen they'd move straight to Winnipeg but likely stay in the Eastern Conference Southeast Division this year.

More bad news for Atlanta... only 135 confirmed their attendance to thhe Thrashers rally to keep them in Atlanta.

Hmmm. Interesting. I liked the Jets name in the 90s. Moose seems laughable to me. Falcons would just remind me of the NFL.

Just went over to the Atlanta Thrashers message board and reading some responses from them. The fans seem to blame it on ASG, the ownership group in charge of Philips Arena and the Thrashers. Losing $20 mil/year is not good for the NHL and neither is a team in Atlanta, IMO.

That is true, but look at Cleveland. They stuck with the Browns. Although I'm not sure Winnipeg wants to lose like the Browns do.

Thrashers owners have just been told that NOG (Potential ownership group in Atlanta) won't make a deal without assistance that would likely take months to obtain. Meanwhile, talks with True North Sports Entertainment (Winnipeg) continue.
