Kelce will be one of the few guys they can probably actually hold onto fairly cheaply, at $8.8 mil. Their other major pieces....well, some decisions will have to be made.

For one, Tyrann Mathieu will almost certainly be gone, and we've seen what the Chiefs secondary looks like without him (not good!). That would free up $19 mil, but they're going to have to replace him with someone, and those savings are more than offset by some of their more expensive obligations. See below.

Let's take a look at Chiefs 2022-23 season salaries:

Mahomes - Cap hit goes from $7.4 mil to $35 mil

C. Jones - Cap hit goes from $8.5 mil to $29 mil

Hill - Cap hit goes from $15.8 mil to $20.6 mil

Clark - Cap hit goes up slightly from $25.8 mil to $26.3 mil

Thuney - Cap hit goes from $4.5 mil to $17.8 mil

Source:
I believe they have all their draft picks cause their gm doesn’t constantly trade them all to move up in the draft

I took Cincy +7.5,,, not sure how KC was an underdog?
Also took LA -3.5 so didn’t win a damn thing.
However it’s nice to see new blood in the SB for a change.

Bengals fans are essentially us....they too have a mom and pop ownership and they've blown so many early 1st rounders...KiJana Carter, Akili Smith, Peter Warrick...etc....you can clearly see how important it is to get the QB right....if Fields doesn't become a star it will set this team back 4 to 5 YEARS.

...when the odds on favorite, from the beginning, becomes the underdog after losing.

HAHAHAHA!!! They lost to the Bungles!!
Those Bungles took down the AFC's first and second seeds, and those two teams couldn't be much different in how they can beat you. They're legit.

You know who did beat the Bengals this year though? Matt mother-fucking Nagy's offensive wizardry.

Also, I remember watching the Chiefs/Bills game, which was amazing, and the announcers (and fans pretty much) were talking about how Mahomes/Allen is going to be a thing for the next decade, two elite young QBs dueling it out, and so on.

Then Joe Burrow comes into Arrowhead and beats Mahomes. Kinda funny.

And we beat the Bucs last year. That's the NFL for you.

I'll be rooting for the Bengals.

Bad take.

It gives bottom feeder team fans hope. Parity is the keyword nowadays. Anyone can go from being horrible to being really good in a year or two.

The NFL is selling hope.

Why didn't you complain when the Bills moved from bottom feeders to good? Or the Saints? Or the Colts? Or the Patriots?

Those were some of the worst teams in the NFL for years, along with Detroit. They got franchise QBs and were suddenly good.
I personally did complain about the Bills potentially making the Super Bowl last year. Josh Allen had a meteoric rise out of nowhere and was putrid in the playoffs. He needed to prove himself a little bit longer befire deserving of a Super Bowl. This year would have been fine. If they would have made it either last year or the year before it would have been disappointing.

You want to see greatness in the Superbowl. Mahomes vs Brady. 49ers dominant defense vs KCs unstoppable offense.

It's good to have parity in the NFL, but not this much. This just gives fans the stupid illusion that tanking for a QB will lead to a Super Bowl. When in reality the Bengals roster sucks. They lost to the Bears and Jets this year.

I'm not against the Bengals having success and for Joe Burrow to emerge as a great QB. But they are playing with house money right now. Most fans would have been happy with a playoff win and that it. Its good to see year over year improvement. But to go from 4 wins to Super Bowl....not a good look

Yeah, the Matt Nagy led Bears and the woeful Jets beat them.

And the Titans didn't really count as a #2 sees. They had an easy schedule and played in an embarrassing division. Playing the Texans and Jaguars x2 each is 4 guaranteed wins.

I was also thinking when I heard that, "Don't forget about that QB in San Diego." Fuck, the AFC is loaded with young QBs.

Mahomes is outstanding but he has this weird backyard recklessness about him that has to be frustrating as a Chiefs fan. That 1st pick basically cost them the game. Him scrambling around with ZERO ball security and fumbling is so reckless. The thing is he can do that and 75% of the time Hill will come free for a big game. Is that something you coach out of him? IDK, because it's worked.

nm-He only lost like 4 fumbles this season. He had a total of 9. Kind of high but not league leading or anything.

I didn't get to see the game so I can't speak to that. Mahomes is definitely a bit of a gunslinger though, so to some level, you need to take the good with the bad knowing there's a lot more good there. Brett Favre and his NFL record amount of interceptions come to mind (if I'm not mistaken about him still being the record holder there anyway).

Honestly with the Chiefs trash D I'm surprised they got as far as they did. I don't see how they improve it unless they luck out repeatedly in the draft.

This is such a horrible take. The Bengals roster is far from "sucking". Yes, their O-line is bad, give you that but:
  • They have now shut down the chiefs "unstoppable offense" 2 times now in the second half: 2 games this year, Chiefs have scored a grand total of 6 points. Apparently, they don't "Suck" as you call it but rather have a pretty solid defense when the time counts.
  • Joe Burrow was the #1 Pick and probably would have also been the #1 pick the year that Mahomes came out. He is that good and shows it on the biggest stage so far.
    • You talk about earning it, Mahomes went to an AFC title game in his first year of starting and lost, Burrow went to an AFC title game in his first year of starting, on the road, and WON. Dude, the Bengals and Burrow EARNED IT
  • Bengals have arguable the best 1/2 receiver punch in the NFL and both are on rookie contracts. Name a better duo (also on cheap contracts which is a huge benefit) than Chase and Higgins (they are ranked 5 and 9 per PFF, no other team can claim that)
  • They have a very good stable of RB and Joe Mixon was Top 4 in both yards and TD's this year
Bengals have drafted well the past few years and frankly, would have been better last year if Burrow hadn't of torn his ACL. The Bengals have a ton of talent: Solid Defense, Great Offensive Weapons, Stud QB and all on rookie contracts.

Good Teams have clunker games every year. Fuck man, Tampa lost to the Bears last year and got blown out by the Saints the first game of the year. Were you bitching that they didn't "Earn it" when they beat down the Chiefs in the SB?

Cincinnati is here to stay. The Superbowl isn't about freaking greatness, its about the best two teams at the end of the year..Face it, the Bengals are one of the 2 best teams in football, like it or not.
