Kelce signed a 4-year deal in August of 2020. He'll retire a Chief. If you think they're letting Hill get away, you're dreaming. The o-line is young and in place. The D will get some help this offseason in the draft/free agency.

...And they have a QB who has one of Tom Brady's best traits - he's willing to give up some of his salary to keep things rolling and add pieces they need.

Get used to them being in conference title games and Super Bowls. Sorry.
Lol. I can tell you’re a basketball fan, because you have no idea how the NFL salary cap works.

You named a bunch of mediocre players. I said name good players. The fact that you have to pull up stats to try and make your arguments, speak for themselves. And even after reaching hard you could only name 8. LOL!!

I bet most people. Including yourself, probably weren't aware of any defensive player outside of Hendrickson before desperately trying to look up some names.

You should know who the good players are. And the few that the Bengals actually have, haven't done it for long period of time. They are really young in their career. There isn't even enough tape on the dudes yet. They may not even be good.

And no, LOL, the Bengals are not the best team in the AFC. And they aren't the best team in the NFL if they win the Superbowl. They simply had a good run. I'm not sure they will even be the 10th ranked team come the Monday after the Super Bowl. No one actually thinks they are good. The results say they are 10-7 and lost to the Bears and Jets.

You guys are prisoners of the moment and have high recency bias. Once the Bengals lose, no one on here will call them or look at them in the same way as they do for the top 5 reams in the league. They will go back to being a wildcard team.

I can't even with you. Do you even watch football or know anything about it? Seriously, do you? Because you come off like a clown that knows nothing about competitive sports at all. See, in the NFL, like in the NBA, MLB, NHL, when you win all your playoff games and play for a championship, that means you are one of the 2 best teams in the league. That is how they are set up. This isn't the BCS from college football. Right now, this year, the Bengals are the best team in the AFC, full stop. Don't care about next year or the next ten years, its all about this season.

Mediocre players, they have several skill positions players ranked in the Top 10 at their position, FACT. Using stats to back up my claims, yes, because that is actually what stats are for. You asked to name players I named 8, so I actually did what you asked, proved you wrong, and you are still bitter.

No one gives a shit if they haven't done it for a long time. Fuck man, Brady won a ring as a starter in his second year, having only thrown 1 pass in his first year. You going to sit here and tell everyone Brady didn't earn it. He did earn it and you know how, BY PLAYING AND WINNING THE GAMES.

Yes, by winning the AFC, that actually means they are the best team in the AFC this season. Thats literally the definition of being the best team. See, how football works is you play all your games, get seeded in a playoff bracket in your conference, and if you win all those games in your bracket, you are the winner of the conference, hence the best team in the conference.

And why do you keep bringing up "They won't even be ranked in the top 10". When did rankings of teams in the NFL matter, please tell me? Thats college dude, not the NFL. The "rankings" you keep bringing up don't mean shit.

Their entire offensive skill players are high end and complimentary to each other

Burrow
Mixon
Chase
Higgins
Boyd
Uzomah

Add in their kicker who is easily top 5 in the nfl right now....and that's 7 guys who control the scoring aspect of the game who are good and young......BUT LINEMAN!!!!

The funny part is they have been pretty bland in the playoffs on offense vs high flying (think 5 td in 3 games with 10 or 11 fg) but their defense has also been better than expected holding 3 teams to about 60 total points

Don't disagree about their O-Line. Its terrible

Don't disagree about their O-line. Its brutal, but they keep winning in-spite of it. With those offensive weapons and a bend but don't break defense, if they hit some some picks next year or in free agency, they will be dangerous for a long time.

I live in KC and the Chiefs window isn't closed, but its nowhere near as open now with Buffalo and Cincinnati coming on strong, the Chargers if they can ever get out of their own way. The young QB's in the AFC are fantastic.

"rankings" lol. there's 32 teams in the NFL, there's thousands of colleges. that's how they keep NCAA straight. it's also still in my opinion imaginary at the college level. you can play for a shitty college team and still get drafted in the first round of the NFL draft based on how YOU played. Bowl games don't matter. those guys that have all the attention on them in college usually wind up being busts in the NFL. that's all I see college sports for, a demonstration of what you could be capable of at the professional level.

additionally, something I never really considered because I don't give a shit about the issue, is most teams that make the Super Bowl are #1 in their respective conference. so it's a big deal if you're like #4 in the AFC and you knock off the #1 team to make it to the Super Bowl. if the #1 team was truly the best the AFC had to offer, they would be in the Super Bowl. the Kansas City Chiefs are not.

next.

Dude, your funny! You can't actually believe what you are spewing.

You wouldn't have said the Bengals were a good team 3 weeks ago. You wouldn't be able to name half their "good" players off the top off your head until you looked it up. Neither would most avid NFL fans.

Yes, I understand the structure of the NFL playoffs. Your funny for even wasting time to explain it. You can win a championship and not considered the the best team. You dont have to play every team to win the championship ship. You just have to beat the teams in front of you. But that doesn't mean you are the best team. Other teams could be facing injury. Other teams could be playing away. Other teams could have a historically off night. Geeze. Use common sense lol.

I bring up rankings, because if you claim the Bengals are one of the best two teams in the NFL 3 weeks ago or in two weeks from now you will be laughed out the room. But I bet you won't. I bet you don't say they are the #1 or #2 team entering the 2022 offseason and until the start of the year. No one will. No one's going to bet on them and push up their odds in the top 2 or even top 5. But please bet on them and prove me wrong that you actually believe what you say.

Its because perception is that this playoff run was more of a fluke. It reason its perceived as a fluke is because their roster is not that good from top to bottom and they lost 7 games.

Everyone wrote them off when they were 3-4. Mahomes was "broken", they had been "figured out".

Then they ripped off 9 wins in 10 games. Then they crushed the Steelers and ended Ben's career. Then they scored in *13 seconds* to go to OT and eventually beat the Bills.

Yeah, they played a shit 2nd half Sunday. An unexplainable and avoidable one (run the damn ball).

But I would take them any day over any other team. They'll be back next year. And the year after that. And the year after that. That's why the haterade keeps flowing.
Yeah, man, that’s our point. The Chiefs are really fucking good, yet Chiefs fans continue to act like they’re plucky underdogs.

Face it. They’re no longer David. They’re Goliath. Chiefs fans should embrace it, like Chicago fans did with the Bulls and Blackhawks, and enjoy the winning.

But a lot of Chiefs fans have this weird inferiority complex where their team **has to** be liked. No one likes you when you’re Goliath. That’s O.K.

“Never meant to be here”?? “Never meant to make it this far”?? This year’s Chiefs team was literally favored to win every single game—all 20 of them—yes, EVEN when they were 3-4.

They’ve hosted every single one of their playoff games at home for the last four years. (Except the Super Bowl, obviously.)

I don’t doubt some idiots spouted off when the Chiefs were 3-4, but the rest of us live outside the Chiefs fan-sphere and saw people still believing that this was one kickass team that would figure it out, and they did.

The Chiefs were Super Bowl favorites before, during and after the regular season. They’re already the favorites for next year’s Super Bowl.

Chiefs fans are an interesting bunch, man. They want to play the plucky underdogs and deny they’re Goliath, and then they say things like, “They’ll be back next year. And the year after that. And the year after that.”

Lol, yeah, dude, that’s our point.

Chiefs fans should stop trying to play the underdog. Embrace being the new Yankees/Lakers of the NFL. Bears fans would give their left nut to be where the Chiefs are now.

I swear, some Chiefs fans are going to spend the whole Mahomes era complaining instead of enjoying the immense amount of winning.

Before I will finish to read your post (with a funny intro), please explain me what your definition of 'best team' is?

Best regular team? Out
Best QB all time? Out
Best offense? Out

Honestly enjoying the spar between DBnumbers and vabearsfan.

The bengals are the plucky underdogs that are beating way better teams. When they finally get an OL they are going to have a chance to have a reputation like the Chiefs have now, a contender with all the pieces to make a run for a superbowl.

And while I agree that this need for immediate success, and going all in on a QB, is bad for the league as a whole, that doesnt mean that what the Bengals are doing this year isnt good for the league. A young team with growing players that can land a few knockout punches is great for the league. Everyone loves seeing a team go from zero to hero (except maybe vabearsfan here) and I for one am rooting for them in the SB.

I dont care about whether any of them are the best or great. Sometimes it is very satisfying to see a bunch of other guys come together to become greater as a whole. The guys that are no names now have a chance to make their names in this superbowl. That's just awesome and I dont know how you cant root for that compared to a team that sold the farm to get their team to the SB this year.

So if the Jets win the Super Bowl next year, would that be good for the NFL?

Gee, I wonder if the NFL would be happy with their biggest market in the Super Bowl.

The "plucky underdog" thing is definitely not where I'm at a fan, and I don't understand anyone that thinks that way. We've been to 4 straight AFC title games and 2 Super Bowls for crying out loud!

What I was pointing out is that they absolutely were left for dead by the media and a lot of fans after the mid-season losses. Even making the playoffs at all was seriously questioned. I have to admit that after the Titans game I started to buy into that a bit. They were giving up more points than anyone in the league on D (they were actually on pace after 7 games to allow more points than anyone in NFL history), and defenses had adjusted to Mahomes by dropping both safeties and making them be patient with their drives (which, admittedly, the team really struggled at doing for a decent chunk of the season - that's on Reid). They absolutely had to reinvent themselves on offense to stay relevant, and they did that. I think it will help them in the long run, as they now can play both styles.

But some here are arguing that they've always been at/near the top of the heap without addressing what I just talked about above, and that's flat out wrong. There were serious doubts among Chiefs fans when the defense was giving up a historic number of points/game and Mahomes was being at least slowed down if not stopped. How can you win games with your star QB's production going down while your defense is a sieve? Luckily they got it figured out and "returned" to what they were before, but that was very much in doubt after the Tennessee game. So you've got to forgive Chiefs fans for feeling that the team "overcame" things this year and feeling like underdogs at times.

One thing non-Chiefs fans need to understand is how many times this team had come up short in the past, combined with this season's historically bad defense (which kind of reared its ugly head again over the last 4 games of the season). There's no feeling of being "comfortable" when those two things are combined.

Believe me, we know exactly what we have in Mahomes, Kelce, Hill, and the new o-line. We know we're always going to be a factor. We're just fearful that it always has to be them that saves us, because the D can't stop anyone a lot of the time. We end up celebrating opposing teams' FGs because we're hoping that Mahomes will put up 6 and that will overcome it. That's the only reason I don't get the same feeling from them that I got from the 90s Bulls. They did it on BOTH ends of the floor, and that's why they were so great.

As a Bulls and Hawks fan as well, I completely get enjoying a dominant, winning team. I grew up on Jordan's Bulls and loved the 2010s Hawks. Hell, I even got to enjoy a couple of good years from the Royals in 2014 & 2015. I love and appreciate the Chiefs the same way. However, there is a LOT of history of heartbreak with the franchise prior to Mahomes, and that D always makes us nervous and feel like we're going to waste the best years of a great QB. .

Just wanted to say that, yeah, everyone seemed to be ready to jump on the Chiefs misfortune during that regular season skid. Probably people hoping that Mahomes was a flash in the pan.

The media looking for a new flavor of the month QB every time they played against Mahomes got really annoying, too, almost to the point where it became a cliche. First, it was Jackson, then it was Herbert, then it was Allen, then most recently Burrow. Can't we just appreciate how many amazing QBs are together in the AFC right now, rather than always having to compare two of them?

I mean sure, but at the same time, you have to accept that the very nature of Mahomes' play is meteoric. That chatter is never going to die.

We're a society that's always looking for the next "big thing", rather than appreciating what we have, that's for sure.
