Lakers will be better. They still have Kobe and Gasol who to me are better than anybody on the Clippers. Clippers will be fun to watch, but that's about it to me.

Players on the Clippers better than Gasol IMO:
1. Blake Griffin
2. Chris Paul
3. Chauncey Billups
4. Deandre Jordan? He's a maybe

Lakers are still going to be good. And Trades are not out of the question. If they struggle you can expect a big trade to try and get them competitive. As for the Clippers, they are gonna be in the playoffs this year. While I don't believe in them to be contenders, they will be one of the most exciting teams to watch this year. Let the battle of Los Angeles begin!

As is, I think I'm going with the Clippers......It seems that the Lakers are the past and the Clippers are the future.......Kobe betta watch out, there's a new sherriff in town.........God the Lakers got so smashed yesturday.....I know its only preseason, but they played for real......Kobe can deny it all he wants.......its gonna be hard for poor rich Kobe to handle......

I think the Clippers should be the better team, but it won't happen as long as Vinny is coaching.

He will find ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

This question is overrated right now. Both are probably low-seeds and first round playoff exits.

The Thunder, Mavs, Grizzlies, and Blazers should be better than both L.A. teams.

I agree with those other teams. Especially if the Grizz can play all year like they did in the playoffs last year. But the Blazers? I just can't see them being legit. Especially with the loss of Roy. They could compete with the Warriors maybe for the last seed if possible. Just my opinion.

The Blazers have a better coach than the Lakers who has established a system for years already.

Raymond Felton is at near all-star level while Derek Fisher (slow, old) and Steve Blake (poor defense) are not. Wesley Matthews has all-star talent as well and now has Jamal Crawford to back-up both guard positions. Kobe Bryant is obviously still great but he's no spring chicken.

LaMarcus Aldridge is a borderline top 5 PF while Gerald Wallace is a top 10 SF (Nicolas Batum is a top 15-20 SF). Metta Peace is nowhere near as good as Wallace and Matt Barnes is not even close to Batum. Pau Gasol is somewhat better than Aldridge because of his defense and rebounding.

Kurt Thomas and Marcus Camby are a nice 1-2 punch in the middle while all the Lakers have as a natural C is Andrew Bynum.

The Blazers have a lot more quality depth. I think they match-up exceptionally well with the Lakers. My gut feeling is they will have a better record and would beat them in a long playoff series.

Blake Griffin is a dunk machine, No where near the skilled player player Gasol is, not even a better defender.

Chris Paul has to prove he is over his knee surgery from over a year ago for a full season. He did'n't look good to the playoffs.

Billups is a better leader and more clutch. they are about a wash. But I will take Gasol because he is a big and is very skilled.

Deandre Jordan is another blake Griffin and is a dunk machine. But he is a nice shot blocker though. But Gasol has more skills than him overall to me.

Wow, my bad man. I forgot about all the new Blazer additions this year. They will still be a good team no doubt. But I can't see them being better than the Lakers. Especially if the Lakers can get Superman some how. But I still see Portland at maybe 5-8 seed in the west.

Blake Griffin averages 20 points on 50% shooting. He averages 12.5 rebounds. He averaged about 5 assists in the last 8 weeks of last season. He is FAR from just a "dunk machine."

Pau Gasol is WAY better than Chauncey Billups. No question about it- despite the position difference.

Funny I was reading this as the Carter 4 is playing and Wayne said "Throw the alley oop to Drake Griffin" Blake is a beast though.

Im not impressed by the clips honestly. They will be fun but they remind me of the suns with Nash. They will run, score, be fun to watch but lose in the playoffs. Paul is about as good as Nash was in the mvp years. Blake Griffen is a less skilled Stat at this point. Jordan is a backup C at this point. Marion is better than Butler. Billups is marginally better than Bell was. Im not impressed.

THe lakers are a potential contender that is built for the playoffs. They might be in decline but they still have two well rounded all stars, a true C and shooters and depth. You can't write them off versus a potential team. The lakers also have 2 firsts and a large TPE to add a very good piece. They aren't finished and will add a true SF, or PG by the deadline or get Howard. They are far from done.

Clips, glad we play a Lakers team that may be even worse than last year on x-mas.

Last 8 weeks of the season is not the whole body of work. He shoots 50% because he is dunking or laying it up all the time, they are high percentage shots. He rebounds well, assists I have to see to comment on, jumper is spotty, and he is uncomfortable when he is away from the rim. Those are the characteristics of a "dunk machine" in my opinion.
