Last 8 weeks of the season is not the whole body of work. He shoots 50% because he is dunking or laying it up all the time, they are high percentage shots. He rebounds well, assists I have to see to comment on, jumper is spotty, and he is uncomfortable when he is away from the rim. Those are the characteristics of a "dunk machine" in my opinion.

The fact that he is one of the league's best rebounders alone is enough to not just label him as a "dunk machine" and leave it at that. He is a PF with good ball-handling and play-making skills and that is invaluable. His strength and athleticism is enough to get him inside FG attempts at will. I understand that he is still a raw talent in the post, but it is scary to imagine how good he will be once he gets that down.

Players on the Clippers better than Gasol IMO:
1. Blake Griffin
2. Chris Paul
3. Chauncey Billups
4. Deandre Jordan? He's a maybe

:obama:

I'll give you Paul, but no one else. Griffin has potential to be a great player but he's only scratching the surface. Pau can take you inside & outside, is the best passing big in the league, & one of the best defensive bigs. Blake reminds me ALOT of Howard when he first entered the league. Trying to jump over or through anyone when he is close to the rim. He needs to work on his post game & mid range game before I will ever give any of these Karl Malone comparisons some sports writers have thrown out there any credence.

Deandre Jordan :lmao:

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Bulls
The only thing that is really great with this Clippers frontcourt, is that they might have the highest combined vertical of any team in the NBA.

That equates to dunks and some blocks.

It seems like you are trying to undersell the Clippers a bit. Griffin is bound to improve his post-up game and he and Chris Paul in the pick-and-roll is going to be just... deadly. That is easily going to be the most scary play out of any NBA team's offensive play-book.

Blake Griffin averages 20 points on 50% shooting. He averages 12.5 rebounds. He averaged about 5 assists in the last 8 weeks of last season. He is FAR from just a "dunk machine."

Pau Gasol is WAY better than Chauncey Billups. No question about it- despite the position difference.

his defense, among other things is questionable,

certainly he's not a dunk machine..but he has plenty of room to mature, really, on both sides of the ball

is he better than gasol? i'm not sure...gasol is one of the most underrated and refined players you can have in the post

he's finesse...but his finesse game really reflects his polished european style of play rather than an unwillingness to take contact

best footwork in the nba in my opinion..and he's a good defender

the drastic change before and after getting pau gasol is not coincidental...nor is it attributed to simple net gain...because the net gain of that lakers trade is completely dependent on the player

meaning..if you make the same trade(circa 2008 lakers-memphis)..but insert an average post guy...or even a blake griffin perhaps..

i have my doubts that this hypothetical team would fair as well as the actual one
