I hear what you're saying... but I think you are too emotionally invested if you are idolizing these athletes. Don't get me wrong, I did the same as a young kid, but eventually you gotta grow out of that faze and realize these guys aren't worth "idolizing."

Nope...they're just guys who are very good at baseball. Or at least, better than you :troll:

i'm not saying your wrong because I AM emotionally invested in the game, but even players I despise such as A-Rod, Colon, and Manny disappoint me because I know other people like them and look up to them. No matter who these players are, idols, role models, infamous players, the Manny Ramirezes of the league they are expected to earn their astronomical salary and the right to play a child's game within the rules of major league baseball and its affiliates. So despite my emotional involvement I think my point still stands. These players are role models for our next generation of ball players the very 12 year olds playing in the LLWS right now, and if these MLB players cant make it without steroids what message does that send to young athletes everywhere? This needs to end from the bottom up.

I'm not a role model... Just because I dunk a basketball doesn't mean I should raise your kids.

That's cool, I understand what you are saying... nonetheless, professional athletes should not be idolized. And especially baseball players, considering that the entire sport has been one big cheat after another for over 100 years.

Any idea on who or what this is all about yet? Is it just a fluke?

That's the parents' job. If the kids end up idolizing a baseball player who beats his wife and cheats on his taxes, that's a parental fail, not our problem.

Millions of people smoke cigarettes... doesn't make it right.

I could tell that you were really young (no offense intended at all) and at your age, I thought Brett Favre was GOD. Of course kids below the age of 12 are going to idolize athletes, they are the best of the best in the games that they go outside in the backyard and play. That said, it's a parents responsibility to explain that these guys are good at an athletic event, but that doesn't mean they are good people or anything you should strive to be like. Enjoy their athletic gifts and model yourself after people with great personalities and morals. There is a huge difference.

And as I said, it's really bad to idolize baseball players over all other sports.... it's the most crooked sport out there and has been for over a century.

False. 1907 and 1908 still count :fist:

We also tied in 1882 and 1885 in the World's Championship Series against the American Association champion, but I guess that isn't really winning.

You made a great point and you're right but this drug culture in baseball still needs to end, I think someone said earlier to legalize it? HAH This is a sensitive issue for me and hate to see my favorite sport corrupted to the point where we have to question if great moments like the one in my sig were clean.

It's not going to end because people will always try whatever they can to get ahead.

IMO, if an athlete tests positive for PEDs, they should be kicked out of the league. No one would be stupid enough to dope up then. Well, I'd hope not. **** this second chance bullshit.

I don't want to hear any of this "baseball is breaking my heart" and "they could be illusions" bullshit.

Really? It's a fucking sport where players do anything they can to win and make salary, it is a job.

Regardless of if they dope, they still need to have a good swing and baseball mentality to locate pitches and make solid contact before they fly out of the park.

If players dope, then they dope, they are still the best players in the world regardless of whether they add some extra male hormones to make it happen (or female hormones if you are Manny Ramirez).

Yah... it's a slippery slope.

I would definitly be more in favor of getting caught = getting kicked out forever then to legalize everything.

He took the estrogen to lower the level of raised testosterone in his system... if you are taking the stuff, you take it in cycles.

Just a little FYI moment :)

The 50-game suspension is basically a third of the paycheck gone, plus loss of potential future earnings. Plus the next time is 100 games if I'm not mistaken. All things considered, it's plenty harsh already. No offense to anyone who's ever been a student-athlete but some of them aren't the brightest bulbs in the set...remember the Melky story? They're going to keep doing it even if you try to ban them for life the first time through.

Well, make the punishment severe enough so they don't do it in the first place. :)
