I want the Thunder to be very very bad for years to come. For some reason I hate them.
Well let's see. They got our boy Thabo and he was actually decent for awhile. Lastly, they should still be in Seattle! I can't imagine any other team in the other leagues moving from Seattle to Oklahoma. It's like dumping Halle Berry for Raven Simone. Craziness.
The Sonics didn't have a brand new arena, but they had a reasonably good level of success over the years. If they had just bided time with that team, Durant would help get an arena built.
They should be scorned and ridiculed.
Durant would have helped get an arena built? It was all about the local government up in Seattle, not so much the fans. Seattle has been on the verge on loosing their other professional teams in the last 10-15 years because the local governement wants so much money from the franchises.
I don't understand the hate of Seattle loosing a team, it's not like the NBA doesn't have other teams that have moved....
LA got the Lakers from Minnesota
Utah got their team from New Orleans
New Orleans got their team from Charlotte
Sacremento got their team from KC(which I went to KC games as a boy)
Memphis got their team from Vancover
Clippers were in Buffalo and San Diago
Atlanta was in Milwaulkee and St.Loui
San Antonio's franchise came from Dallas
Golden State Warriors started as the Philadelphia Warriors
The Wizards... started as the Chicago Packers, went to Baltimore then headed out to Washington.
It's nothing new people. 11 of the 30 NBA teams originated somewhere other then where they reside now. It's just a part of buisness, the only difference this time, the amount of media you can now get through the internet by really anyone.
If you want to be mad, be mad at Howard Schultz for selling the Sonics to a group looking to move a team to Oklahoma City... He had been trying to sell to a local group but nobody was willing to take on a team loosing money in Seattle. And if you ever believed that Bennett didn't want to move the team then I guess you also believe these other groups who were willing to loose money in Seattle that popped up after the team was sold.
Hard to believe that in this day and age that people still stereotype cities without knowing much about them.
