Not everyone in the Blackhawks family was glued to the TV to watch Stanley Cup finals.
"I didn't watch it. It takes up time to watch hockey and I have stuff to do now," Hawks Hall of Fame goalie Glenn Hall told us Wednesday from his home in Alberta, Canada. "I could hear the score. … Everybody gave a big 'Whoop!' and I gave a big 'Whoop!' and that was it."
The 78-year-old Hall explained his indifference: "The players are so good, they are so strong and they are so big. And the game is not as good as it should be.
"The referees think it's their job to keep the games close. You might as well throw the rule book away if you're not going to use it, if you're not going to call it."
Word on the street: Hawks president John McDonough was the Nettlehorst School 8th grade commencement speaker on Tuesday. He told the kids he was not a great student or athlete growing up, so he had to find another way to achieve his dream. … Bears 7th-round draft pick J' Marcus Webb is already becoming a sensation with his YouTube videos. The latest, called "Don't Feed the Rookie Bear," shows Webb's first time devouring Chicago deep dish pizza. "I love the sauce!" he proclaims.
