Welp, finally... a win. I forgot what it feels like.

Great offense... Juan and Omar did great at the top of the order and the power hitters knocked them in.

Gavin Floyd pitched a solid game. He gave up a lot of hits and the 4th was sketchy but he came back strong in the 5th and the bullpen did great the last 3 innings. I would love to see the bullpen do that when the Sox are only up by 1 or 2 runs, but I'll take it as progress for today.

Go win. Now let's start a winning streak.

At this point, we've gotta take baby steps with this team. Take things slow, one game at a time. On to Detroit.

His minor league numbers aren't good. He doesn't have the bat for corner OF (sorry you can't have a corner OF'er that can't slug 400) ad probably not the defense for CF.

Believe me I do not like the trade never did. It was and always will be a stupid trade. Fuld is exciting but he is not this good. He is probably a 290/360/370 type guy that's maybe +15 defense on the corner.

I would however have liked to see him work in the front office. Very very smart guy.

1) I am not even going to get into the UZR comment

2) not saying you, but ALOT of Cub fans always have something negative to say about a player(s) when they get traded/FA and are not with the cubs anymore. But if the Cubs were to reverse it and acquire that same player its all rainbows and butterflies.

3) His stat line that you project is fine, you can supplement the power at another position, to say that a corner Outfielder must have a specific OPS and or Slugging percentage is just crazy talk. We had Pods and now Pierre, not really lacking Homeruns with no slugger in the left corner.

4) Minor league stats FTW! So a player in the minors who is ehhh cant turn things around and be good? Just like the hot prospect in the minors, he cant come up and be ehhh? It is an unknown factor, and just because what he did in the past wasnt great it doesnt mean he cant do it now.

It wasn't really a UZR comment just a simple number to put into his defense if you are going to figure out his value. If he is not a plus plus defender he most certainly is not worth it.

Fair enough. I am usually pretty critical of the trades and really wish we had some of the players back. (i.e. Murton, Wuertz, Patterson (to an extent))

Sure I guess that's one way to look at it, but just because you have a great player at a generally non offensive position like SS or CF, doesn't mean you should just say oh well that's fine we can fluff off at another position. You should still try to maximize your production.

You are absolutely right, but why should a player be given a chance if he hasn't succeeded in the minors? I don't really know the White Sox minor league system but I am sure there are some players that are on the 40 man who you wouldn't be upset about if they released them in order to make room for a newly acquired player.

If a player doesn't succeed at least to an extent why on earth would you bring him up? Are you going to look at a player hitting .150/.200/.250 in AAA and say you know what he needs? He needs to be called up to the majors. Can a player breakout at some point? Of course. Is it possible the Brewers saw something they thought they could fix?

It sucks McGehee became something decent, but those types of things happen, its nothing to cry over. If Jim Hendry could see the future the Cubs would probably have a world series or two.

but of course, if we are talking acquiring a solid player. its a very grey area when it comes to this situation. it wasnt sam fuld for garza straight up, if it was than hey, no biggie. but it was the fact that the cubs got fleeced in that deal and when you look at all the numbers(basic stats, saber, defense behind, ballpark) garza was a good pitcher only where he was at, and that is tampa. with everything being taken into consideration now, all elements of a players worth and what he is projected out to be, he simply isnt going to be good with the cubs....with that said if he is using the same pitch types and doesnt change anything.

IMO when it becomes june and it is 85 everyday, alot of fans are going to be seeing him get hit hard.

Well if talking the Garza trade that's a whole different subject. Regardless if a team you are trading with says throw in a 27 (I think didn't look up) year old minor leaguer and it's a done deal you do it.
