Bears fans ONE month ago: Pace has no plan.

Bears fans after a splashy, yet shallow draft: We won the draft.

Bears fans during the next couple of seasons with no playoff wins:

Also, pace just had a top 10 highschool prospect of ALL TIME fall into his lap.

Being anything but ecstatic about the future of this franchise for the next decade is stupid.

You should start a daily thread whining about pace and the Bears fans

Don't get it. TBH.

People had a reason to knock pace before the draft. Mitch was a failure, his major offseason swing last year(Quinn), was a failure. His backup plan(Foles) was a failure.

None of that shit will matter if he drafted a franchise QB in justin fields without mortgaging the future.

My favorite new CCS thing is Ms Adows completely flipping everything he's said the past couple of years.

also, Fields being just "Okay" would be a fucking disaster for this franchise. They need good, not okay.

If Justin Fields is even an "Okay" nfl qb, Ryan Pace will be a chicago legend.

Thats all anyone cares about.

You get a legit NFL QB and then you can actually win a playoff game.
This is the type of opinion I see from QB fan bois and fair-weather fans.

(I'm not accusing you. You're a true football fan too.)

Right?

Okay would imply Jay Cutler level.

I love the prospect of Fields, but not being top 10 to 8 wouldn't be good. If he goes out there for 250, 2 TDs, and an INT - ouch..

There's a lot of pressure on him.

I think you can play good and still be outside of the top 10. It just depends on what those top 10 guys are doing. Rodgers, Mahomes, Watson, Wilson, Brady, Herbert, Allen, Tannehill. Those 8 played great football last season. Then there are guys who played good football.

But yeah, being okay is not good. Especially if two first round picks were used on you. Okay does not cut it anymore and okay is not what franchise QBs are. Theres no doubt the Bears could have used okay the past 3 seasons but moving forward with a questionable aging defense, okay might not get it done. I have high hopes for him. I'm typically pessimistic and cynical but i cant with him. Like him too much. Need to be hopeful for once with this team.

Me too.

Just to spitball what I realistically expect to happen. I think Fields will be good right out of the gate, but the defense will decline. By the time he matures to SB contender QB, we'll be rebuilding and Nagy will be gone (maybe Pace too).

Fields will carry the team for a few years while we rebuild. Hopefully we can keep him under contract while that's going down. But I do think he's a franchise guy.

*wild speculation obviously

Ryan Pace needed hail mary in the draft for this to resemble a plan and he completed it.

Without Fields this is a team treading water, but he landed Fields and changed the trajectory.

yeah but who cares. As long as he's a franchise QB and they can be a team that can make the playoffs any given year because of that, i'm good. Think of how many times this team could have been dangerous but lacked a franchise Qb. Hope goes a long way.

At least most of us are geeked about a new direction at qb and not necessarily the entire roster. Just last year op was geeked we were heading into the season with foles on the roster

which scenario should the fans been happier with last seasons squad or this seasons?

False. Just didn't want to watch Mitch anymore. I'm for trying something new when Mitchell was clearly a bust.

Nice try.

The 2020 free agency period is an all time turd. It is going to take a couple more seasons to get that shit off of the books.

But landing Fields was huge.

Now we see if he can clean up his messy books and build an offense around a young QB and get cheaper on defense.
