This is perhaps a plan but it is not what I would call an overall strategy.
IMO a draft strategy starts with which unit is going to be the team’s money unit . Then you start allocating resources based on that. For the Bears I would say that should be the offense because they have the most talent there at this point. Then you strategize which parts of the defense are most important. For the Bears and most teams in this era IMO that starts with pass rush followed closely by the secondary then run defense.
This is what I mean by strategy. You have finite resources so you start with an overall philosophy then list priorities based on that. The top priorities get the most resources then you work down from there.
Part of why I my strategy as described, was watching JA and Lovie focus on defense and treat the oline like the stepchild in the family. If those two drafted less safeties and had committed to drafting and developing more olinemen the Bears probably would have played more playoff games when they ran things in Halas Hall.
So throw most of the teams money of the offense and pick and choose where the defense is weak and fix as you go? what I don't get that have a list based on what philosophy ?
I think it really starts with a culture that we have lacked for years and it not just winning. Its a atmosphere that players and coaches etc ,not just for the money just for the pure love of the game and to be able to make a difference to others with the history of this franchise we should be the ones other look at. we should be the cornerstone and that starts with Top and this don't just happen by throwing money around and making lists that's not a true strategy in any business.
Its not like lovie and JA didn't try and address the oline they just didn't do a good job in the draft and the teams was getting older. Emery and Tressman tried a quick fix and made more problems than it fixed.Time will tell if pace can turn this thing around.
I think you have it backwards you win games in the trenches stop the run first than work on the secondary and pass rush. if they can run the ball on you the its a one demetional team that you can game plan for.
