My favorite teams
  1. Chicago Cubs
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
  1. Indiana Hoosiers
My fear is he comes, and if we make a HC change down the line, he gets the job.

He has failed miserably twice.
How would that happen? If Nagy fails that means his offense will have failed and his staff would go as well. Shurmur is not getting another HC gig. He has Peter Principled twice.

Yeah, I have been pulling for him at OC since the Giants canned him, but I too doubt he would take the job. Especially after hiring Castillo already. I am thinking you will see someone that worked with Castillo in Philly/Buffalo get the OC gig.

Castillo and Shurmer worked together in Philly under Reid.

Nagy needs to own the offense next year. He needs to succeed or fail on his own merits. We don't need an OC in name only

Definitely looks like he wants an OC job tho. What else is open?

Maybe I’m confusing my bears bloggers but hasn’t he said 5 different things over the past week?
Yes, he was the one who stated it was Kafka, then Shurmer, then no OC, now Shurmer again.

He just says whatever one of the real beat guys has a a possibility then claims he has a source. But, if you put enough names out there you will definitely get something right eventually.

My bad, I meant to say "someone else that worked for", but this raises an interesting point. Maybe it is now Castillo pushing for Shurmur.

Everything is a possibility, isn't it? Like Mitch, Pace, and Nagy.

I would like to get Shurmur in as OC. Although he has a terrible track record as a HC, he has a great one as an OC.
However, I get the feeling that the longer this goes on, the less likely he'll be hired as a coordinator. Last I heard, he may be tapped to be the Redskins' OC.
I think the Bears may be waiting to see if Kafka is available, which I doubt. I think if Shurmur was the first choice, they would have already had him in for an interview.

Something I was thinking about the other day: is there a chance Nagy gave up playcalling at the end of last season and we didn’t know it? The play calling at the end of last season was much different than at any other point in Nagy’s tenure. Howard was actually getting carries out of the “I” and that seems like an abnormality in this offense with Nagy calling plays.

ive thought the same. He did say if it would change then we wouldn’t know about it bc he wouldn’t say.

Why do people want Pat Shurmur? I honestly don't get it. His track record as a coordinator is mediocre at best.

He’s the only hire that will get me somewhat enthused about next season. Obviously a QB change excluded.

Just think.. if we got Brady, Brees, Rivers, and both Mannings we could build an old white man QB Voltron...
